I don't post this stuff as a "selling point", I post because I want to know how your weekend is and it's a little disingenuous of me to ask you guys stuff and never be willing to share (where I can safely) about my own life, right?

As to why I specified that it was a non-eHarmony date, it's because I don't use the service and I wanted to be clear about that.

If I could, I would. But it's not allowed. I never really understood why until someone explained it to me this way:

Imagine you're on a date with someone fabulous. You start talking about their work and learn they work for the dating site on which you two met. Wouldn't that freak you out???

It would me!!! I'd wonder "Can they see my account, my contact information, who I'm talking with, etc.???" It would definitely cause me concern. They could be the most honest person, and the company could be highly reputable and I would STILL worry. Not only would it likely end whatever was starting with me and the guy, I'd be VERY wary of continuing my use of that site at all.

So, in short, the kindhearted employees of eHarmony "take one for the team" and forgo using THE best dating website out there -- just for you, so you can feel even more secure in your experience in using our site.

You're welcome!!!!

I actually DID meet a Success Story couple recently, I'll be posting about it very soon!! It was really cool. So yes, I believe in the service and I'm very, very proud to work for eHarmony. And while I wish very, VERY much that I could use the service, I understand why I can't and I accept it.

Lori,

I understand what they are saying, but I would think they would distinguish from employees who work directly with the Eharmony product and those like yourselves who work on the Eharmony Advice pages. I honestly do not see it freaking anyone out that you work for the Advice Section. In fact I very much agree with others that those who do work with these Advice Sections should be active on Eharmony (if they are single of course ) because it would give them much deeper insight into what people are going through.
Walter just a heads up here, Lori can see your eHarmony profile and matches, etc. just like any other person in support. I don't know if she can see my credit card number but I know that she can see a whole lot about me and my matches if she wanted.

Lori actually it would not freak me out to find I was dating someone that worked for the dating site that matched us. I would find that quite interesting. Now what I would find to be really weird is if we got matched on Match and I found out you worked for eHarmony.

FYI one of my eHarmony matches was in upper management over customer support at my ISP provider. It did not cross my mind that she had access to all of my account information, could check to see if I am ordering the Playboy Channel or if I watch the adult Pay Per View movies.

Just because Lori is not on eHarmony does not mean she doesn't understand the struggles that single people go through.

I'm super late in replying to this (sorry!) but I don't think it would be fair to the employees if only some people who work here could use the service and others could not.

And Gr8Guy - no, I can't. I'm actually in a totally separate division of the company. Also, Advice accounts and Singles accounts are totally separate.

Finally, thanks OCG for your kind words I've used lots of online dating sites and being a "Singleton" myself - believe me when I tell you, I get it! We're all in this together no matter what sites we're using.
