Well, personally, I do not feel the need to adhere to anyone else's business model. And I fail to see how it would be a conflict. My suspicion is that part of eHarmony's business model is luring people from this free site over to the paid side - its a marketing tool.

As far as the the paid part of eHarmony being effective an effective dating tool...I am stumped on almost a daily basis why most matches are sent to me - I have checked, rechecked, and redone my settings and with few exception found very few points of compatability with my matches.

Thus, I migrated here. And I will not apologize for seeming harsh with some of my opinions - I do believe in self reliance and truly feel that the answers to so many questions are self-evident - if people would only stand up for themselves.

I know I scare off potential dates/mates with this attitude - but would rather wait for the one that can truly hang with me rather than settle.

What are the things that you really truly value most? If it isn't necessarily personality aspects, then you can always move on to another site. Or you can always change your settings to make sure you rank those things you really want as the most important.

Honesty
Fortitude
Humor
Intelligence
Adventurous spirit
Kindness

The order of the first two are non-negotiable. The other four can show up in any order.

Pink Flamungo- just don't come here if you are not happy with the site. That way, you'll avoid the stuff here that seems to irritate you.

My experiences here have been pretty positive. I've gotten advice from the huge smorgasboard available. The people who post here range in age, experience and life long philosophies.

I enjoy the ability to learn through these boards. I also ignore or even stop reading things at will.

I have been very engrossed in a couple of threads in the past, and fully expect to get involved in some again. It's a little unpredictable, but so what? So is life, at it's best.

I have also felt compelled to offer my thoughts and advice to individuals who have come to the boards with a need. I know I helped- a few of them told me.

Being able to offer help or support is also a very positive feeling. For me, that's true even if the other person never acknowledges the impact, or can't use my particular, well-meant advice or comment.

Not to worry - I do think my life expectancy here is limited and I will move on shortly. If not by my own accord - by the hand of the helpful community organizers.

We ain't gonna ride you out of town on a rail. Not yet, anyway. You're starting to grow on us, somewhat like bread mold.

A number of us got tired of the site's incessant technical glitches (likely the result of all the junk flash/swish ads), lack of functionality and inscrutable moderator policies and moved on to other forums.

There are exactly 24 of us on this website though the actual question answering is done by a staff of elite ninja underpants gnomes.

If my lippy nephew doesn't simmer down soon, there will only be 23 users.
