UPDATE: I made some changes based on your feedback and my updated profile is in post #6 below. More feedback is certainly welcome. Thanks.

Hi, I've only been at EH for a few days now and would really appreciate a profile review.

1. What are you most passionate about?
Some of the things I've enjoyed in recent years: prayer and reflection, learning about religion and science, live music recordings, following sports, watching TV and movies, software development, wikipedia contributions, eating a variety of foods, long walks, and spending time with the people I'm closest to 2. What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?
1.
2.
3. 3. Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
I'll call it a tie between my brother, grandfather, several teachers and mentors, and a few close friends. 4. The four things your friends say about you are: Edit
Intelligent
Perceptive
Funny
Genuine
5. What are three of your BEST life-skills? Edit
Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things
Achieving personal goals
6. What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?
Compatability - personality, interests, values 7. Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
I can list a few things, but I'd rather get your answer when we first meet :-) 10. What are five things that you "can't live without?"
a. b. c. d. e. 11. Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?
"Hackers and Painters", a collection of essays by Paul Graham covering a range of topics. No matter what the subject was, I usually found myself agreeing with his logical, well-thought-out ideas. He's a successful man who enjoys sharing his hard-won lessons and insights. 12. Describe one thing about yourself that only your best friends know.
You'll have to become my close friend to find out

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Add a period at the end of this sentence. Some get annoyed by grammar. Otherwise you have done a good job of
avoiding annoying spelling and grammatical errors.

2. What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?
1.
2.
3. 3. Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
I'll call it a tie between my brother, grandfather, several teachers and mentors, and a few close friends.

Tell us why or how they influenced you. It isn't as important who you choose,
as long as what you say about their influence tells us something about you.

4. The four things your friends say about you are: Edit
Intelligent
Perceptive
Funny
Genuine
5. What are three of your BEST life-skills? Edit
Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things
Achieving personal goals
6. What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?
Compatability - personality, interests, values

What do you consider compatable? What personality traits do you like, what interests, what values?
Everyone has these, they just may not be the ones you are looking for. Think hard. What has
attracted you to someone in the past? What qualities can you just not do without? You want
the right person to look at this and see herself. This is just too vague to interest anyone.

7. Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
I can list a few things, but I'd rather get your answer when we first meet :-)

I know answering all these questions is a pain, but this is a cop-out answer. If you read enough of this
board you will see that a major gripe is that so many of our matches don't take the opportunity to
give interesting answers to these annoying questions. If you can't think of something, think of what else
you would like the person to know about you. You want to say things about yourself that make you
stand out as a unique individual and not just another Joe Schmoe on someone's list.

You'll have to become my close friend to find out

Another cop-out. After you have looked through a few dozen of your own matches, you will
see the same tired joke here on half of your matches. The question is dumb. Just use it to say
something about yourself again. It doesn't matter so much that you correctly answer this question
as you help your match to remember you or see you as more than two dimensional. I think you
also left off the last one, which is another chance to help your matches to see who you are.
If you can't think of anything else for that one, at least say something nice. One match I liked wrote
"Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile. Good luck with your search!"

Thanks for your time and consideration.
No problem. You are doing ok, just need to work a little harder on some of the answers to the questions
everyone wants to dodge. Good luck!

Agree with the others here. Clean up the grammar and spelling. Make complete sentences where you can.

Also answer question 8, 12, and 13. I honestly believe that these types of questions are your chance to shine.

1. What are you most passionate about?

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?
1.
2.
3. 3. Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

5. What are three of your BEST life-skills? Edit

6. What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?
Kind, caring, enthusiastic, and open-minded. 7. Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
I'm sometimes quiet and reserved when first meeting people, but I can talk a lot once I get to know someone. 9. How do you typically spend your leisure time?
travel, eating a variety of foods, long walks, reading, following sports, watching TV and movies, and spending time with the people I'm closest to. 10. What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Your profile is interesting and rather unusual, which is a good thing - it stands out.

The bad thing is that, in reality, I would HAVE TO close it after reading your answer to question 1 - it feels uncomfortable to me personally.

While I appreciate and even admire curiosity in others, the way you phrased it leads me to believe that you are prepared to satisfy your curiosities at almost any cost. It may, of course, be presumptuous of me to conclude that out of a few words on my computer screen, but that's the message you are conveying to me.

If this is not the case, I would suggest you balance it out with something that would convey that while you HAVE to learn certain things for yourself, you also realise that you HAVE to adhere to basic standards of common courtesy, so as not to cause any incidental harm to others, whilst on your quest for knowledge in an attempt to satisfy your curiosity.

Just one woman's opinion, of course...

Good Luck!
