Hi,

Writing is not really my cup of tea...

I have changed my profile from pretty boring, and basic to the one below. After reading the tips and quite a few of other profiles, I think many of my changes were good.

I tried to show some humor, and be more out of the ordanary from many of the more common profiles I have seen. So, I was kinda wondering if I went too far, or if I'm doin ok with this one?

Any help would be great, I have seen a few profiles, under the help here, really come out nice. Thanks

The one thing Bob is most passionate about:
I am very passionate for the one I love, giving her security in the fact that I am always there for her. Creating laughter, happiness, and romance in a relationship. Now, I don't want to sound all mushy but, I feel love is a beautiful thing (Just don't go around showing this to all the guys though). I also have lots of other passions, the outdoors, nature, all the wonders of our world. I love good music, new experiences, surrounding myself with good people, and having fun. I love family and kids. A happy, enjoyable, lifestyle at home has always been important to me.

The three things which Bob is most thankful for:
Life, waking up each morning to a new day.
The strength and wisdom, I have learned throughout the years.
I am very thankful for the world we live in, there is so much that can be achieved here.

The most influential person in Bob's life has been:
My Grandparent's have taught me many values, and respect. The wisdom I have gained has been very beneficial to me. Of course, I also take little bits and pieces from many fantastic people along the way.

Bob's friends describe him as:
Hard working and smart.
Funny
Loyal
Genuine

Three of Bob's best life-skills are:
Being a good friend and companion.
Finding pleasure and contentment in simple things.
Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness.

The most important thing Bob is looking for in a person is:
I am really looking for someone that loves to have fun, being happy, and who is young at heart. Romance is also eqaully important to me, enjoying a moonlit night, sunset at the beach, a quiet candlelit evening together. I am a warm and caring person who enjoys the same from a woman.

The first thing you'll probably notice about Bob when you meet him:
I'm sure you'll notice my thoughtfulness towards others. I think my intelligence, also stands out.

The one thing Bob wishes MORE people would notice about him is:

Bob typically spends his leisure time:
I enjoy doing anything outside in the sunshine. Whether it's exploring new waterfalls to photograph, rivers to fish, or lakes to take a dip in, I love the outdoors here in Oregon. It's great to take a bike ride through the park, go hiking, camping, or even a good ole BBQ at home. I enjoy the fair, watching live music, from local bands to a Sammy Hagar concert. Since I am a gear head, and love fast cars, I go to several racing events throughout the year, drag racing, sprints, boat races among other motor sports.

The things Bob can't live without are:
Laughter
Rock & Roll
My Jeep & a full tank of gas
Chips, Salsa & a Classic Margarita
My tools, with them I can fix anything

One thing that only Bob's best friends know is:
: ) What ever it is... I hope I know about it too...

Some additional information Bob wanted you to know is:
I try to make the best of every situation. Although, I am easy going, and don't sweat the small stuff in life, I happen to be a strong willed person. I work very hard at my goals and accomplishments. I pretty much work hard at everything I do.
P. S.
Don't Worry about checking out the guy in the next profile...he still lives with his mother.

The one thing Bob is most passionate about:
I am very passionate for the one I love, giving her security in the fact that I am always there for her. Creating laughter, happiness, and romance in a relationship. This can be interpreted as very very needy - most women don't want to bear the burden of being your life and your sole source of entertainment. Now, I don't want to sound all mushy but, I feel love is a beautiful thing (Just don't go around showing this to all the guys though) This here screams of insecurity and issues in the past with cheating or possibly just jealousy on your part - huge turn off. I think you are trying to be funny, but this is the kind of stuff where people need to hear your tone to know the difference and on paper there is no tone to guide us. I also have lots of other passions, the outdoors, nature, all the wonders of our world. I love good music, new experiences, surrounding myself with good people, and having fun. I love family and kids. A happy, enjoyable, lifestyle at home has always been important to me.
Isn't there something that you can list as a true passion of yours - something that you can say it's x and this is why it's x???

The three things which Bob is most thankful for:
Life, waking up each morning to a new day. I think I know what you are trying to say, but it comes across a little odd - can't quite articulate why......

Romance is also eqaully important to me, enjoying a moonlit night, sunset at the beach, a quiet candlelit evening together. Do you really? This is very very cliche...so much so that it's really tired and no longer believable. Just about every single guy claims this.

Could put in something funny here or just a simple statement to the effect that you are happy with the way you are seen by others.

Bob typically spends his leisure time:

Don't Worry about checking out the guy in the next profile...he still lives with his mother. It's funny but can also be read as very desperate, I'd leave it out. Also, bashing the next guy even in jest may not be seen as a positive quality in you.
Just a few things, but overall a pretty good profile. Good luck to you and hope this helps.

Yeah. You know, I'm inclined to agree with DF on a lot of this.

I realize that this is EH and we're all looking to get hooked up with that special someone, but when a guy says his passion is directly related to a relationship, it makes me think he's either needy or trying to tell me what he thinks I want to hear. No good either way. I would suggest maybe talking about your hobbies. Obviously, you love cars. (I do, too!) If I saw that on your profile, it would pique my interest. I think that's what you're really going for with the passion section, someone who will share that passion with you. For example, my current favorite OC match put writing as his passion. I'm quite fond of it myself. More than that, I like proofreading and editing other people's work. From the beginning, we could both see that this is a complimentary interest that is going to be a huge part of the way we connect.

Aside from that, I really liked what you had to say in the sections about how you spend your leisure time and your additional information. Those are really good. Except for the part about the next guy. That's just kinda tacky.

HWF:

Agree with the above. #1 comes off really badly. It comes off that you want to smoother some woman.

Find something else that you are passionate about.

Skip all this it's comes off as "tell her what she wants to hear, because I read the books and know all about what women want "

I think it is a pretty good profile, but agree with the others about saying the woman in your life as your passion. I've come across this numerous times, and my first reaction is always "Oh PLEASE!" I don't read desperation though. It could imply that you have had so many women in your life that that the femme du jour really is your biggest passion (not really complimentary to potential dates) or that you are just generically interested in women. I would like to think my guy is passionate about me because he sees me for who I am and is gaga for me, not because he is just passionate about any woman who happens to figure in his life at any given moment.

PS. Side issue. About your photo. I don't know if you chose the same one you use here for your main pic on eH, but if so, consider using one without sunglasses as the first one we see. I am not sure why, but every time I have seen a photo of someone first with sunglasses, I have been disappointed with their looks without the glasses.

Even if I'm just weird and this isn't universal, I do think that the main pic should be sans the sunglasses as people do tend to think as the eyes as a window into the soul. Hiding them may make us feel you have something to hide.

I, like LB, also want to see your eyes. Especially if they're blue. Fortunately, EH keeps sending me matches with the most beautiful blue eyes. How do they know? *LOL* At least, if you're intent on using the sunglasses pic as your main pic, post some other ones where you're not wearing them.
