Hi everyone, I'm new to the discussion boards but have been on EH for a couple of months. And although at first I had some interest from a few matches, now it seems to have all dried up. Can you please have a look at my profile and give me your opinion? Am I scaring the guys away? I'm not getting a lot of closed messages, but at the same time I'm not getting much response to my icebreakers. Help!


1. What are you most passionate about?
Learning has always been a passion of mine. I find learning about other things and people expands your mind and views.

2. What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?
My parents
My friends
My health

3. Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
My grandfather. He is the one who first showed me the importance of learning, and started my passion for reading, two things which continually enrich my life.

4. The four things your friends say about you are
# Intelligent
# Spontaneous
# Good Listener
# Passionate

5. What are three of your BEST life-skills?
# Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness
# Finding new adventures and unique experiences
# Making new friends

6. What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?
Intelligence and a sense of humor

7. Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
I'm a good listener, and also observant

8. What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?
I have interests in a lot of different things so am able to find common ground with just about anybody.

9. How do you typically spend your leisure time?
Spending time with family & friends, walking, going to the beach, photography, going to see a film, enjoying a nice meal, and watching sports. I like to sometimes spend quiet evenings at home watching a classic film or listening to music.

10. What are five things that you "can't live without?"

books
sunshine
music
hot chocolate

11. Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?
I think the book I enjoyed the most recently has to be Lauren Bacall's autobiography. She had such a beautiful life with Bogart.

12. Describe one thing about yourself that only your best friends know.
I think that anything my best friends would know is what anyone would know given time.

13. Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?
I spent 7 years in Scotland and in that time was able to travel a bit around Europe. It really opened my eyes to the way the rest of the world is. There is so much, that as Americans, we aren't aware of or exposed to. It was an amazing experience, and one that I would recommend to anybody given the chance.

First, don't use Icebreakers. This marks you as a non-paying member. If you are interested in someone, send Short Questions.

Second, your About Me looks fine.

Third, you've been with EH a few months. Really think back now, and decide did you honestly answer the Personality Profile questions? (This impacts who you are matched with which is the starting gate of the whole process.)

Fourth, look at your settings for age and distance. Can you up these to just beyond your comfort zone? EH is about numbers. The more matches you get, the more chance that someone will be interested.

Fifth, look at the "Black&White" questions. Can you increase the ok answers on these questions? Can you mark some as less important?

It comes across as not catchy enough just another so-so profile. Can you jazz it up some. You describe yourself as passionate-include that in your profile. Anything unique and interesting your have not shared? What do you pics look lik?. Happy Hunting!

thanks, I'll give it some thought and see what I come up with

It's hard to find just the right words to come across as the person you are without giving too much info
