VB_Girl that is a great question! I may use it...

I usually make up my own questions depending on their profile or to understand better their Must Have's Can't Stands. Many times I ask what they did last weekend? This is to see if they are mostly a homebody or they like to go out, many times I get "I stayed home but I usually... which most times rather than not, they are homebodys".

My favorite is this:

How many boards would the mongol hordes hoard if the mongol hordes got bored?

It does a few things:

Firstly, it shows them a taste of my sense of humor. Any girl that can get the Calvin and Hobbes reference gets extra points. This can become a conversation starter, too. Seeing how the 2nd questions are so close to open communication, I've found this one useful.

Secondly, I get to see something about her sense of humor. Does she offer just a number or does she elaborate as to how she came up with the solution? I can see how playful and/or witty they really are based on their response.

Thirdly, it's light enough that it tells her that while the rest of my profile has a certain gravity to it, I do know how to play and am looking for someone who will play, too. (I'm not talking about playing games or fooling around - just being able to have silly fun together).

Usually I try to pick questions based on their profile. I don't think I particularly have any standard questions that I ask, although several of these do have an appeal.
