Eharmony is totally a scam, they don't have enough users and so they do their "free weekend" scam so that they have people to send you, the problem is that the people that sign up for the "free weekend" can only go so far in the process. You guessed it, stage three. They CAN'T answer any further unless they pay money. So if you get one "real" paying user out of ten connections it's a miracle.
Dear greenthumb,

I'm afraid that you are incorrect about Free Communication Weekend/Event participants being able to communicate only so far.

While it is true that the FastTrack options isn't available, during the weekend/event, if two members complete the Guided Communication process, they are able to enter Open Commuinication and e-mail each other through our site. During this stage, should they choose to do so, they can share personal contact information and continue getting to know each other off our site.

Our 1st Communication "Event" last weekend scheduled for 5 days and extended another 2 days, gave members 7 days to get to know each other through Guided Communication and move into Open Communication. Even with that amount of time, not all members will successfully reach Open Communication with a match(es). However, my guess is that many more were able to do so with the extra days our event provided!

Even with only 3 days to communicate during previous Free Communication Weekends, members were able to find the Love of their Life! In fact, our Corporate blog, http://www.eharmony.com/blog/, recently shared four couples who meet during a past FCW. Here is one of the stories:

Rebecca and Jordan: Married 07/05/2009

“My dad suggested eHarmony, since I had the time on my hands, so I decided to give it a try. Jordan took advantage of a free communication weekend in late October, and we made it through all the steps in like a day and a half!! He knew from the very beginning that I was his ’soul mate’.”

If you click on the link already provided above, you can read the stories of the other couples and view photos of them all!

All the best,

-Renee

I've reached OC with several non-members during FCW's.

I don't think it's a scam but it doesn't work. I'm either a million miles away from anyone I seem attracted to or I don't get a response. I not going to rate myself but I'm not Homer and most women I actually know tell me I'm an attractive guy...and I've got my life together. Oh well. I guess I'll go back to sitting in bars.

Greenthumb your absolutely wrong. Non-paying Members can go all the way to OC during the FCW. I should know. I have been a member of eH since June of 08. In that time I have only paid for 4 months. I have gotten to OC during FCW when I was a non-paying member.

I love this discussion. Although this forum forces you to give an email address to eharmony during registration, posting "It's a scam" complaints here receives replies, discussion, suggestions and (sometimes) resolution. Quite different to complaints boards where posts are one-sided.

This is an example of one of those complaints:

This thread needs linky help so that it appears first on the google search for "eharmony scam".

I suppose that for any product or service there are going to be disgruntled naysayers.

However, as someone who has been using eHarmony for a while and been through quite a few FCWs I can assure you that people on for only the FCW can use the entire Guided Communication process and get to Open Communication and communicate as much as they wish during the FCW. I have done it and gotten dates with people who were only on for the FCW.

So im not sure if this is the best place to post this and it may be off topic but this seems like a thread for people with EH communication issues. Im on stage 4 of that guided communication process, i recieved a message from the other person but when i reply to it i do not get a confirmation email like i did on the previous stages. Also it shows that the last time i communicated with the person was over a day ago when i just send the email an hour ago. Can anyone please help me or guide me in the right direction because EH seems to have no way of contacting them through email or phone. Thank you for any help.
