I think big brother is watching us anyway regardless of what dating sites allow us to do or not do. Some police forces here in Canada now have a way of telling which internet sites you go into and what you do on those sites; I think it's only experimental at this stage, but if they're successful in catching criminals with this technique forces across Canada will be using it.


There's just no way of avoiding these kinds of big brother tactics so we might as well get used to going with the flow. If you're not doing anything dishonest, why worry about what big brother thinks or does?


Besides that there's no chance of Dorothy coming to this neck of the woods today or anytime soon - we're getting another snow storm (hopefully the last of many we've had in the last three weeks). Her yellow brick road is awfully slippery to walk on right now and there's no chance of houses dropping in or out of anywhere right now

One of eH's competitors does something similiar; noting whether each match has logged on within the past 3 weeks, the past week, the past 3 days, or the past 24 hours. Multiple logins in one day aren't tracked, but it does give one an idea of how active (or not) the owner of that profile is. One can probably safely assume that someone who hasn't checked in 3 weeks is pretty busy with something (or someone) else; or that their subscription is inactive. I think this sort of information would go a long way toward mitigating all the complaints about inactive or expired matches that eH receives.

Long story..and in another post..but I hadn't been on for medical reasons and thought I turned off matching but it didn't...and now back on after 5 months (re-joined EH as in paid member)...and tweaked a few things and added more photos so matches that hadn't closed me during this time...see that I am now updated and some have chosen to start communication....so that is one way to "refresh" some matches as well as the "find new matches"...


I know that isn't exactly what you were talking about...but another thought to those like me that hadn't been on in awhile.....
Thanks Ingytravel for your input. I hope that's the way it happens.

Also, this site and one of the free sites will show if you are online at the time. This is shown because both sites offer IM. However, you are not required to use IM. You are able to turn the function on or off.

I imagine that deep in the depths of the eHarmony offices there is a room, much like the pictures of the stock exchange, with computers and giant displays everywhere. In this room they already know the answer to your question and to all the other questions you might want to ask. Like what percentage of eHarmony members are actually paying members.

I am old fashioned and let the guy lead. Too many expectations spoken or unspoken of the male variety, and they are GONE!
I was taught to chase them until they catch you. The female mystique carries greater power by not letting them know if you are waiting for their response. Ignore them, they will usually come back, and if they don't, who needs them? I am willing to drop my hanky,...if they don't pick it up, great, they must think there is something better somewhere. And perhaps for them, there is.
