Have you all seen the picture of Tanyalee and Joshua holding hands at the EH login page (or on TV)?

Tanyalee is wearing a nice, Spring dress. Her hair is pulled back (but neat). She's looking very nice.

Conversely, Joshua is wearing a wrinkled/ratty t-shirt, two days of stubble, and hair like he just rolled out of bed.

Also, on the TV spot when they're standing in certain scenes, they're about the same height (minus her heels). But on closeups he miraculously becomes 4-6 inches taller.

Do you think this just their individual style in real life (the appearance, not the oddly changing height differential)? Or is it yet another subtle marketing cue designed to alter our gender expectations?

What gives?

That's quite weird, I hadn't seen the login page, but I do now recall seeing them on TV looking quite different. Guess I hadn't paid much attention to them, but it does now seem strange that the TV folk would "advertise" them looking so disparate!

The height thing is hilarious too - I'll be paying more attention to that now that you've mentioned it.

But after all, does height really matter?

Red Sox Girl height does not matter for me so much but slow dancing with a girl that is 8 or more inches shorter can be hard on the hips.

In one of the commercials with this couple it starts out with Tanyalee working in her store. She says how hard it is to do the dating scene when you own your own business. In another commercial Josuhacomments on helping Tanyalee open up her store. Now I am wondering which story is accurate.

I'm sure everything about their appearance is controlled to increase the effectiveness of the ads.

I noticed that too and have wondered about it.

I cannot remember if this is the couple where one of them says that it was the first person they contacted or something like that; that commercial makes me want to scream at the TV since we all know that most of us spend much more time than that.

I assumed it was just their personal styles, but what got me is how threadbare that store looked. I think that was a set. The whole commercials with them were a bit too fantastical for my tastes.

What I noticed with the couples in the eH commercials is that they often give the date the couples were matched. If they show the happy couple again, it quite often gives the date they got married. I don't have a problem with this but usually the time period between matching and getting married is just under a year. That's less than 1 year to be matched with someone, communicate with him/her, set up a first date, begin dating regularly, become exclusive, decide to get married, make the wedding plans, get married and shoot the commercial. Are they real couples who just know what they want and move fast or eH plants? You be the judge.

Yes, she's the innocent young woman and he's the wild bad boy that she tamed (with the help of eharmony)!

eharmony excels at marketing. To bad their matching system is not nearly as good.
