Disclaimer: As the SN might indicate, I'm not a member of EH. Rather, I'm a potential member, here with some questions.


Having been an EH member years ago, I was a little disappointed with the "standards" used for matching. Since online dating has evolved rapidly over the past few years, I was wondering whether or not EH had tightened up a bit on these.


For example, I absolutely, positively, cannot date someone who has an incurable or untreated STD. One of my worst dating experiences ever was with a guy who revealed on our 5th date (drunk, a few minutes after asking me to spend the night) that he had herpes. Eww. I do know some very nice people with STDs, I just prefer to let someone else date them.


Also, I am NOT open to dating someone with children. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I love children and want kids of my own, I just don't want the crap associated with stepmotherhood.


And, I'd be open to dating someone never married/divorced but NOT separated. I know EH does not accept separated people, but again, when I signed up years ago, I was only asked to provide an email addy, pictures, etc - no proof of identity or singleness.


When I was on EH, they didn't ask either of these questions - do they now? If not, what is a (polite) way to find out these things about a match before wasting too much time or possibly developing feelings?
