I recently joined EH and while most of my matches seemed to have many common interests, I realize that most EH users are located in the US so I've been reluctant to initiate contact since I am in Asia.

I would like to know if there have been any International EH success stories? How did you overcome the distance issue?

Hi sapphirepomegranate,

Welcome to both our Singles site and eHarmony Advice!
Yes, we do have International success stories! You can read stories and see photos of couples who meet across countries here:
http://www.eharmony.com/success/stories/international

Developing a long-distance relationship is certainly challenging but not impossible. When two people are really right for one another, they can figure out a way to eventually be together and may find that their relationship was actually strengthened and deepened because of their shared efforts to deal with this challenge.

I hope that members who have successfully meet over distances will share how they dealt with this challenge. But, I also wanted to let you know that you can find some helpful tips in our Long-distance Survival Guide: Long-Distance Relationship Survival Guide

Lastly, just a reminder that if you do decide to open up your Match Setting to include matches in other countries, in order for you to receive an international match, they would have also had to include your country in their Matching pool.

I wish you all the best with your search.

I was a new member and he was one of the 2 or three firsts I started communicating with last March. We followed the first steps and skipped to skype. He was also the only one I talked to. Just in case- there are thousands of miles and, at least 4 or 5 airports between us but they did not avoid us to be together for fifteen days last August. I will be returning to the US next November to spend more 20 days and he will be joining me and my family in December for more fifteen days. We have been very happy!!!! I am sure he is the " one". I hope to be back later to tell you more about our beautiful love story. Thank you eHarmony! It really surprised me.

Hi burgene,

Congratulations and thank you for sharing your experience with us!

I'd bet that most members who are open to meeting long-distance matches, while hopeful, are still surprised that a relationship from hundreds and even thousands of miles away can flourish and be successful. But being creative and using Skype and other means to connect when you can't physically be together has made it less challenging than in the past.

While it certainly isn't the only thing that helped you find your special match so soon, having a matching pool that allowed us to search thousands of miles certainly helped!

I'm sure November can't come too soon! Best wishes for a wonderful visit in November. And, yes, please keep us posted on your beautiful love story!
