I just got an email from E-harmony asking me to fill out a survey on how things were still going with my husband and I. I followed it to these boards where I first saw many "E-harmony is a scam" posts. Pfft. We are proof it's not a scam, we have been living a fairytale since being matched almost 5 years ago!

My husband and I joined around the same time. We were among the first few matches for each other. We were hesitant at first b/c of each other's names and profile, but gave it a shot. We figured what harm could come from talking?

We are so glad we did too. We were matched in late November 2004 and ended up meeting in person after talking online in early January 2005. It was love at first site for both of us. Our first date, we were finishing each's sentences and felt like we had known each other all our lives. Nine wonderful months later, he proposed. (09/2005), and a year to the date from that we were married. On our first year wedding anniversary we decided to start trying to make our family into a three-some, and our daughter was born nine months later.

We just took a wonderful trip to the tropics to celebrate our third wedding anniversary, and we both couldn't be happier! We are very happy in our marriage, and our little girl brings joy to each and every day.

Thank you E-harmony!

Hi Mom2aJellybean,

You are quite welcome, and thank you for sharing your story! We so appreciate when successful eHarmony members take the time to share their experience with others.

I encourage members who are dissatisfied with their eHarmony experience to pay particular attention when you shared: We were hesitant at first b/c of each other's names and profile, but gave it a shot. We figured what harm could come from talking?

There is a reason members receive each and every match; so we encourage members to do at least some communicating before deciding that a match isn't The One. You and your husband were so right to think that you had nothing to lose, and, as your fairytale life now shows, you had so much to gain!

Thank you so much for keeping in touch with our Success Stories team and for your participation here on eHarmony Advice.

All the best to you, your husband, and your little Jellybean!

Congratulations on your success with EH!

How did EH know to send you that survey email? I'm curious as to how they track the success of their matching; it seems to me that they could only know what customers report to them ( I never received any surveys when I was an active customer, so I know they don't send them out routinely), so had you notified them earlier that you were going to marry one of your matches?

I wonder, too, how many people are quietly living in a relationship/marriage with someone they met through EH, without letting EH know that their matching service was successful.

I dont think its a scam either but I was wondering if they had more information on how the couples that have married (that they know of) have been doing. Its good to see a success story of over 5 years. Congrats!

Actually, I think I have posted this before but I do have a friend that met her husband on eHarmony and she is also happily married with a baby. It has been 3 years approaching 4 for them.

Name any company or product, and you can easily find someone on the Internet calling it a scam. In the case of eh, it was probably someone who joined and didn't meet their soulmate the first day, therefore it must be a scam, eh?

Hi Everyone,

Nanette: I believe eHarmony Labs may currently be conducting a longitudinal study, but no information is available at this time. However, for those who would like to check out the most recent relationship research done by our Labs and others, click here: http://www.eharmony.com/labs/

Also, congrats to your friend, her eHarmony husband, and their baby. Let them know we'd love a photo of their happy family!

mrflyer: Our member's success is truly our success, and we wish we could guarantee that every member will be successfully matched. Since we can't, we do advise members in our Terms and Conditions of Service that we make no such guarantee. But, because of the nature of the service we provide, emotions, both positive and negative, can run high; and, unfortunately, some members not succesfully matched or successfully matched as soon as they hoped, feel that we are not providing the service as claimed.

Thanks to all who have or continue to share their success and positive perspectives on this thread. When a member is discouraged, reading your stories, suggestions, positive comments can truly provide the support they need to continue their search effectively and postively.

All the best,

-Renee
