I think it's totally possible to meet "the one" on line. But, I would like to give my warning---I met my now ex-husband thru eHarmony---you just have to read between the lines, listen to your gut feeling and realize....when communicating online, people can be who they want to be and there are many people out there not telling the truth. Just because a person says they are not married---they may not be truthful. You are meeting someone you know nothing about and I guess it comes down to...listen to red flags and be a lot more cautious when you know nothing about their background.

Watch for conflicing messages in emails. Do they say one thing in an email and one or two emails later..something else? Be careful.

My boyfriend and I were matched within a couple days of us both joining. We were both the first and only people we met off of eHarmony. As of our second date (which was two weeks after we were matched), we agreed to be exclusive and turn off matching. I'm not sure how to explain it, but when I saw his profile, something just clicked for me. While looking at other men's profiles I remember thinking "Okay...that's nice," but when I saw his I had an instinctive "Ah-ha!" moment. Also when I saw him in person, I just had a positive gut feeling then, too. We've been exclusive nearly five months; things are going great. Our personalities are very compatible and it's been a lot of fun.

Dear bretagne89,

Thanks so much for sharing your almost instantaneous success story! Sometimes our members get very lucky and not only meet someone they really feel has the potential to be The One, but they meet them really soon.

It's really only after spending time with a match and sharing different life experiences that you can really determine whether you are perfect for one another. It's terrific to hear that after 5 months, things are still going great!

Don't know if you've shared your experience with our Success Stories team yet, but they'd love to hear from you: http://www.eharmony.com/success. And we also have a Facebook page! eHarmony | Facebook

When successful members share something they did or their match did that they feel contributed to their success, it can often benefit current eHarmony members.

So when you mentioned, bretagne89, there was something about your eHarmony boyfriend's About Me page that really spoke to you, I was wondering if that was because he did something differently than other matches? Also, I was also wondering if there was something about your About Me that your boyfriend says grabbed his attention?

Or if you have any other advice you'd like to share, please do.

I wish you both the best and hope that you will continue to let us know, here on Advcie, how your relationship is progressing.

I could really "use" a success story at the moment.

My eh story came about as as a fluke and didn't even think about using a service like this until and ex gf mentioned that each of us should try eHarmony as there appeared to be quality people who were on the site. I was on vacation and bored one afternoon and looked into it. Had no idea I would have to answer all of those questions but went for it. Didn't sign up right away but after I started getting matches, figured that I would give it a chance for 30 days to see what it was all about.

I was fortunate to meet my GF and what I hope to be my life partner within two days of signing up on EH! Her profile was different than others as she came across with a quirky but very open side which was different from most of the other profiles. It appeared real an not contrived in order to be more impressive. of course, her pictures were not too shabby either but it was her words that really drew me in.

I did meet a couple of others in my first two weeks but after our second date, I knew she was the "one" and turned off all matching and have been happier than I would have ever imagined after a 25 year marriage ended.

You just never know where the "One" may come from but have to say it has worked for me. Wishing everyone else great success!

dnnmllr: You just had to wait two days and BNNN was nice enough to share his story. I really love that he shared that it was his girlfriends words and the way she expressed herself that caught his attention. That's why we are always stressing to members that it is important to make sure your unique personality shines through when you create your About Me page!

BNNN: Thanks so much for taking the time to share your success story! It is music to our ears to hear when members are so happily matched.

You didn't mention how long the two of you have been together, but if and when the time comes that you'd like to share your story with our Success Stories team, they'd love to hear from you: http://www.eharmony.com/success

I know this is a hypothetical, but I was wondering, if your girlfriend hadn't had a photo posted right away, what do you think you would have done? Was her About Me page dynamic enough that you would have been inspired to communicate anyway or at least send a photo nudge?

Congratulations to you and your eHarmony sweetie!

All the best,

Thanks Renee,

To answer your question above, I must admit that had she not had pictures posted, I may not have responded. To me, one must be open and willing to share themselves with others regardless or they do not present themselves as the people they truly are. Otherwise, it appears as though they may hiding something. That may not be the case but that is how I would read it. Some may take that as being shallow, but there had to be physical attraction also for me.

I replied to this sometime ago. Just an update. I was matched with my boyfrend during the first days I was on eHarmony. We did not actually have a date until three months later. I kept looking and meeting others and kept thinking about the person I was first attracted to.

When we finally met for coffee, I ended up spending the rest of the day and all night with him. That was totally out of character for me. I am still seeing him and we are planning a future together.

I still find it hard to believe that this happened. Looking for casual dating and found love.

BNNN: I certainly know what you mean when you say that a person who doesn't post a photo may seem to be hiding something. But there are some very legitmate reasons why a match may not have a photo posted right away. So I'd like to encourage current members to give matches with no photos a little time to post some before deciding to close the match -- especially if their About Me page really draws you in!

Thank you so much for your honest answer, BNNN. I'm so glad that this was just a hypothetical situaion and that you didn't need to make that decision.

Cathy61: Thanks for the update! It's been about 6 months since your original post (Boy, how time flies), and it's great to hear that you and your match are doing so well! I hope some day that your experiences will be featured on the So Close Yet So Far section of our Success Stories page!

All the best,
