I was on eH for about two and half years before being matched with my husband. It was hard to keep going, so many times I wanted to give up, thinking you had to be a super model to get a date and then in July 06 I was matched with my now husband. We got married in May 08. Its worth it to hang in there and keep trying. You will be matched with someone wonderful, just hang in there. Your perfict match may not even be on eH yet, mine wasn't but then he joined.

I wanted to add that I think the reason we see so few posts about success stories is that those who are successful (who are pursuing a relationship with someone they met on E-Harmony) are no longer logging into the site!

I'd agree with that. Personally, while I was matched with my husband through eHarmony a year ago, we only recently submitted our Success Story at the prompting of some friends. You can read the story online here:

http://advice.eharmony.com/article/an-eharmony-success-couple-trevor-and-leslie.html

Prior to a few months ago, neither of us had been really involved with the site after finding our 'match.'

I didn't know these forums existed until recently, but was surprised at how few stories have been posted. Online dating (just as normal dating) can be frustrating at times, but in my experience, it was worth it! I have a close friend who is now dating a man she met on eHarmony over a year ago. They stayed in contact and finally decided to began a relationship a few months ago.

While she did need to exercise a little patience, I'm sure she'd agree that it was worth the wait.

I didn't receive a billion matches in the time that I was on the site either. And there were some people that I was matched with whom I didn't feel any connection with.

But you don't really need a ton of matches, just one good one!

I joined eHarmony last summer on my 45th birthday. I wasn't that serious about it but thought it might be a fun way to meet guysI normally wouldn't meet, and decided I was at the point in my life where I might be interested in settling down. I had been divorced for six years and in a committed long-term relationship for 5 of those years.I was tired of meeting only younger guys socially with few common interests who were at a completely different point in their life (wanting to start a family, beginning their careers, etc.)

Within the first25 or so matches I met threeamazing, successfulmen. Each had integrity and represented himself with apparent honesty. I soonmadethe difficult decision tocommit to the third as we not only hadgreat chemistry but shared an amazing amount of common interests.I believe this relationship has strong possibilities for a future, but for now we are taking things slow because we both have children.

I believe I was the one who first made contact with each of these men, which would not have been easy for me in person. I don't believe my experience is necessarily unique, but perhaps the success stories are busy pursuing their newfound love interest as opposed to taking the time and interest to encourage others on these boards.

By the way, I've been told that my profile was not particularly interesting, witty, or eye-catching (my photos were just phone-camera type pictures). I don't have great writing skills - I honestly don't know if it was just amazing luck or something more insightful and profound .... I would say it is probably more about initiative, honesty and keeping an open mind about thoselists of essential qualities we all have somewhere in our minds.
