I was always needed to help put out fires here and there and now that I have someone who has there stuff together, I feel unneeded.
I think this is telling. I think (through your own self work or a therapist) you may need to try to evolve to feeling needed without having to fight fires. Given what little information you have told us about yourself I think it is understandable you are drawn to circumstances that in some ways represent your upbringing and feeling uncomfortable in circumstances that are more calm and regular. However, I worry that if you see that as the norm you could be drawn to people and relationships that are somewhat destructive and steering yourself away from the kind of connections that have a solid foundation.
