I thought there was a drug you can take if you are infected that protects from passing the virus? I know it depends on what type of Herpes you have...

There are several drugs that can help you manage it but it's with you the rest of your life. I have been gifted with HSV2 : the genital type...Seeing the bf next weekend, will be trying to figure it all out. I am thinking this romance is over. I will be alone the rest of my life..Please take care of yourself and be safe. This has been an absolute nightmare for me..Way to much drama. I did find a web site called HCsupportnetwork...Has helped very much. One thing I have learned: Always put yourself first.

I'm so sorry softwarmbreeze.

Please do not believe the lie that you will be alone forever because it is a lie. There are people that do find love even with dealing with STDs. Google a site called "dating with herpes" .ORG

Take care of yourself, hun.

Don't be silly - it's not you, it's a virus.

Yep. And people with HSV date every day and some of us who don't have HSV are willing to date them as long as they're up front and honest about it.

That's the takaway here - not that he had HSV - but that he wasn't honest with you about it.

Always ask, and then verify. People do develop a plague response to it and some will resort to lies (either outright or by omission) because they've been rejected for it time and time again. Not saying they're right. In fact, I think it should be criminal to know you have an STD and not disclose it. But it happens.

Please don't assume this. A close family member of mine is infected. She was devastated when she was diagnosed and was sure she would never have another relationship. She met a very nice young man on a dating site for people w/ herpes. They've been together for over 6 months & seem very happy together. Of course, it is a terrible thing to go through & I am very sorry you are experiencing this. But it doesn't have to be the end of the line for you romantically.

In some states it is criminal to know you have an incurable STD, specifically (herpes and/or HIV/AIDS) and not disclose it.

And, I don't buy it for a second that the guy told the OP in a previous conversation and she just forgot about it. One never forgets that kind of information.
