I thought this was kind of a "duh" issue. I really don't see how anyone could disagree.

This can apply to pretty much all aspects of life that I can think of. I hated working at Mejier (Midwest 24/7 Wal Mart-type chain that went 24/7 with groceries, auto stuff, clothes, home stuff, etc. years before Wal Mart ever thought of it), but would pick that store over Wal Mart any day of the week, simply because of the time I put in there.

Same thing for my last unit in the Army. At times I hated it. At times I loved it. In the end, I'd defend its honor to the day I die simply because I invested 4 years of my life in it. The most laid back chillax unit I was in, I was only there for a few months and now it's simply an afterthought.

Same thing for women. If I'm with someone for let's say a year. Some kind of great job opportunity pops up. I'd be more inclined to take it rather than if I was with that same woman for 5 years. After 5 years, you've learned more about that person, good and bad, and still stood by them. There's more loyalty. Whether loyalty is good or bad is up to debate, but it doesn't change the fact that it's something we feel as humans.

I'm in the Army. All you regulars know that by now. I have my hometown friends that I Miss and love dearly. I have my Army friends that I wouldn't necessarily call "true friends". A few, yes, but most, no. They're comrades rather than friends. Unless you've been in this kind of work - military, cop, fireman, first responder, etc. - you wouldn't understand, but I digress. Take my best hometown friend and any random guy in my motor pool (I'm an Army mechanic, the guys I work with are "in the motor pool"), point a gun to my head and tell me to choose, I know without a doubt I'd pick the Army buddy simply out of current loyalty. Fast forward 20 years and I'm back home, retired, and hanging out with my old school friends, I'll probably change my mind.
