I met a nice woman at a Meetup group and we hit it off. She is around 38 and I am 49. We are both divorced twice. She has a son in college and I have no children. For about a month we dated then she backed away wanting space. I took it as needing "space" but about 10 days of no contact with her, she called me wanting to continue. She was wanting to slow things down. So we started over and everything was developing nicely.

Last night before getting into the shower, she noticed I had a boil on my butt. She said it looked like MRSA, staph infected wound. I had only noticed it a few hours previously while out for the evening. The conversation went bad from there. She accused me of intentionally hiding health problems from her. She told me to leave her home at 3:30 am. This morning she texted me how I was feeling, then we spoke for about 2 hours and she was still angry but loving and supportive about me getting it checked out. I went to a walk-in clinic and got anti-biotics.

She texted me around 9 pm saying she missed me and loves me then around midnight I get an e-mail that I am the most horrible inconsiderate person alive for subjecting her and her dog to MRSA( I haven't been diagnosed with that.) Also, I didn't offer to disinfect her house or buy her bleach, nor inquire at the clinic if she needs to take anti-biotics. She has now told me to never contact her unless I find out I have AIDS or HIV. We always had protected sex. This hot/cold attitude has been going on for about a week. I think that the boil was just a reason to end the relationship but confused why someone would be so loving then just a few hours later be so hateful. The last thing I want to do is put anyone in harm, especially since I am a paramedic and know the consequences of communicable issues.

In a way, I am counting my blessings that we didn't invest a lot of time in this relationship, but still trying to grasp the flux of emotions over the last 24 hours.

Wow, just wow !

I am truly sorry.

I would suspect that between the 9 p.m. text and the 12 a.m. e-mail, she spoke with someone else, and took some advice to heart.

You are probably correct. Thank you for the insight. It seems that when women need to make a hard decision especially one that will be painful, they reach out to their friends.

You're welcome. More painful than a boil, from your perspective, I would think.

Yeah- she was over-reacting. Indeed, her reaction was highly disproportionate and inappropriate to the incident. She may be subconsciously pushing you away. Maybe she isn't ready for a serious relationship - and given the direction it was headed - that spooked her.

I am grateful it happened as earlier that night, she was planning on where my furniture would fit into her home.

Hi rexxy...

Count yourself fortunate that you got out of this relationship (?) before she bought the drapes and began re-arranging your closets!

No offense, but she sounds a bit neurotic...maybe a hypochondriac or a person with OCD (when she wanted you to disinfect her house, that was truly surreal to me!)

BTW: Welcome to the boards!

That hot and cold swing is a big sign of mental instability (like untreated bipolar). I wouldn't worry about her rearranging his closets, more like her tossing all of his belongings on the lawn at 3am!
