It's an extremely valuable lesson that all men must learn first hand.

There is no such thing as friends between men and women.
Don't agree with this. Most of my friends are men. And quite a few of my boyfriends friends are women. It's no big deal. And there's no one using anyone, either.

Looking at people as individuals is much more effective, and this woman sounds like a user, plain and simple. I'm with KungFuFtr - it seems a little odd that she needs your help on a sexual harassment issue, but works on the case while lying on your bed and requesting a back massage. Something's just not right there.

Never jump into to save the damsel in distress that you barely know.

She's likely trying to manipulate you into helping her. In this case, she's probably in distress because she trying to scam some other guys before.

Were you too harsh? No, she deserved what you said and more. While you blew up at her, I think you were more upset with yourself for being used. But then you forwarded the work you did for her, which basically was rewarding her for using you.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here.

I have several male friends, and that's all we are and ever will be--friends.

Just because you might not have experienced this yourself, does not necessarily make it a truth for everyone else.

She wasn't a friend, because friends don't use and lose each other.

You were a (brace yourself and know that I'm saying this in the kindest way possible!) sucker to fall for it.

Your female friends were right. We women have instincts (and yea, we've done it a time or two)!

You're correct in being 'done' with her. Live and learn from this and don't let it happen again.

She's also an idiot to put it online after she blew you off.

You know, it sounds like you've got real talent and knowledge in paralegal matters. You could get paid if you offer these wares on Cr a i gs list or other Websites, if you ever need some pocket cash.

Well, I do remember the sad finale of The Wonder Years. Kevin and Winnie were so right for each other too!

I've had lots of platonic men friends, but they seemed to resent me for not being attracted to them in that way. I've always looked for the perfect platonic man friend - but if he were perfect, I'd probably want more. Maybe an activity partner, like tennis or hiking??

LOL "sucker" stone cold idiot is more like it, but on the real though I look it as a lose lose either way I went. She was in real danger that was not fake, I know this because the local authorities did not think it was fake either. I think she just liked the attention till she got bored with it. If I had to do it again I would still do the same thing minus the fallow threw all the way, but at very least I can say I did the right thing
