I've found myself in a number of discussions with friends and have found almost universal agreement that long hair in a woman is to be preferred over short hair. By long I mean hair down to her shoulders at least. I don't know why but we all seem to find that more beautiful and just more feminine. That's just the way God seemed to wire us. And of course that doesn't mean we don't like girls with short hair and it doesn't mean that there are no guys who like short hair. It's jus one of those general rules.

My girl recently cut her hair. It's not that I don't think that she is still cute and pretty; I just really liked it better when it was longer. Lord knows that I would trim or grow my hair and/or facial hair if she wanted me to. But I'm sure she won't respond the same way because, well, we guys just take this stuff better than you gals do. No offense intended, that's just the way we were both made. Any ideas folks (especially to you gals) as to how I might want to say this to her?
Do you love her, or her hair? If it's the former, shut up. If it's the latter, break up with her, immediately. Believe me, you owe it to her not to mislead her, your particular hair sensibility being a high priority with you. And by the way, do you want her to dictate your hair length? Think about it.

Hair length and fashion are cultural in nature.

Well, since I was just "dumped" because my hair was short in one place, and not yet short enough (completely gone) in another...
I get the feeling you're not talking mullets here...

I think short hair is HOT on certain women. In fact, I would posit that most women who look good with long hair look at least as good with shorter hair.

Maybe you're the caveman type who wants to dominatea woman by dragging her around by her hair!!! In that case I hope any woman you date has SHORT hair.

Do not say a freakin thing.

Unless she asks for your opinion. Even then, you need to tread carefully. I liked SweetKatie and Clumsy's suggestions for stating it in an affectionate and sensual way. Under NO circumstances should you say something like, "It looked better when...".

Women want to feel beautiful. They try hard to do so, and it's our job as men to make them feel beautiful. If there's something you prefer your S.O. to do appearance-wise, then you have to be subtle and gentle about how you approach it. You can't make her think you are criticizing her or that you think you know better than she does what works for her. You have to plant the seed between the lines (mixing metaphors there) so that she thinks that it's her idea to do what you like best. The best way to accomplish this is to use the affectionate, sexy, complimentary methods described by Katie and Clumsy.
