I was home sick the other day (feeling much better, thanks) and watching Bonnie and they had a Dr. on and questions from the audience and one brave lady stood up and said her husband no longer wanted her to sleep in their bed because there wasn't enough room for them and their animals, so she sleeps in the downstairs guest bedroom, and wanted to know if this was a problem. ahem.

I work with people who let their animals share their bed. Why, I have no idea.

My question is: if you meet someone who expects you to share their bed with their critters, are you ok with it or do you head for the hills?

The only kind of animals allowed in my house are the kind that contribute to the property tax.

The bed has even more stringent requirements.

It depends. I have two cats who aren't allowed in the bedroom, but sometimes I sleep on the couch (just for fun, when there's nobody else here - yes, I'm strange) and then they tend to sleep on me or next to me and I'm okay with that.

Depends on the pet - I'd have a problem with one that made a pest of itself during the night and woke me up, but any pet is okay if it just sleeps. Well, almost any pet. I draw the line at porcupines.

If there are so many critters in the bed that I can't move then yes it's a problem. Been there done that.....

For me it would depend on the specific circumstances, such as how intrusive or disruptive the animals were. What would be more of an issue is a person who made ultimatums regarding pets sleeping in the bed.

... it is deadset annoying to be woken up in the middle of the night by cat teeth and claws firmly embedded in your toes! (Clearly, if Shadow is awake and wanting to play, so should I be in her opinion!)

... or the lovely occasion when Launchpad lived up to her name and launched herself onto my flyscreen. It promptly fell out of the window and she executed a flying leap fair onto my middle. Another rude awakening from deep sleep.

So no, my joyous little bundles of fur are not allowed in, on, or near, my bed.
