A human addiction is when you stalk someone you feel you are in love with. It is very unhealthy. You will need counciling to help you overcome this addiction. Take this issue seriously, you are no better then a drug addict or alcholic.

Thank you for defining terms, could be wrong but I think most posters knew what human addiction meant.

Also, I don't think trollbanger was holding himself up as "better" than anyone else, just sharing a problem.

Your motivation for ending it needs to be stronger than your desire to continue.

Human addiction is hardest to break because it is human contact that gives us strength to survive, however, it can also destroy us.

Pick which matters to you more and get through it one hour at a time. Continuing to be weak will only weaken you. Strength builds over time.

Act as the person you want to become, not the person you are trying to avoid.

There is a book: How to Break Your Addition to a Person. IT IS DAMN HARD. But, when something/someone is toxic for you, you have to do it. And yes, addition counseling and EVERYTHING IN THE KITCHEN SINK! must be used--so use it.

If you can't handle the idea of going Cold Turkey, then I would suggest making an agreement that the two of you won't have any contact w/ each other for a set period of time(3 months, 6 months, whatever you decide). If you set a time in the distant future that you will see each other, and commit to no contact until then, you will have time to come down off your high and re-evaluate the situation with a clearer head. Of course this approach only works if she's willing to cooperate, and not contact you until the set date! It may not cure you of your addiction, but at least it gets you far enough away to think with a clearer head and start taking steps towards another more positive relationship in the meantime! Good luck~
