.
What must a relationship be for you to regard it as successful?

Is there a minimum time that you would require before assigning the term "successful"?

Must a marriage last until death to be successful?

Have you been involved in a relationship that was successful but did not last "forever" (or until death of one of the parties)?

On the flip side.....I don't consider a relationship that lasts for life to necessarily be a 'success'.

Didn't we have a "marriage" thread somewhere around here quite recently, asking pretty much the same question in different words?

How about you answer your own question first?

My criteria for successful relationship maybe a little different.
First criteria. We have to have enjoyed our relationship. Pretty simple, but you'd be surprise how many people aren't happy in their relationships.

Second. If the relationship ends (which since i'm not married, all of my past relationships have ended), we have to be on good terms now. Which means that after the relationship ends, both sides have moved on and able to return to a semblance of friendship without wanting more. Using this criteria, i have to say only one relationship in my past would be considered "successful"

Being the Paganini of this Lunacy, you should be well prepared for this phenomenon, and know that most Ladies around here are nothing but demanding "gold-diggers", while most Gents are so "shallow", they wouldn't know a true Lady if she fell from the sky just before the Moon came out...

My son's father and I have a successful relationship. Romantically, it did not last long. A couple of years. Nor did it ever progress to marriage, but it did transform our lives for the better and a true friendship resulted.

I feel that we have definitely been successful in the most important ways.
