I've been with my boyfriend for 8 months now. Things are going really well with us. I'm completely falling for him. I really want to tell him I love him, but I think that the man should be the one to say it first. Anyone feel the same? I know he cares about me, and hes always talking about long-term plans with us. So I know hes in it for the long haul. Ladies, has your man taken a long time to tell you he loves you? Guys, did you take awhile to say it? Why?

I just wanted to stop by and say "I love you too"

But on a serious note, I don't see anything wrong here. I'd rather my bf took his time and actually meant it, than use it in every sentence without stopping to think about the meaning. You can't hurry love, nor can you rush things in this department...

Thanks IceCreamMoon, you're absolutely right. I guess I just need to step back and enjoy being courted a little while longer. I'm sure he'll say it when he's ready

Three little words. Big meaning. Might take some time. Might be he's saying it to you already- with his actions. Seem that way to you? Perhaps it will take a little longer to reach his lips. Best of luck to you.

I was trying to wait until 7 months before saying it, but I only lasted 4.5 months.

Just said it yesterday to my girl, and she said it back.

I would think that it should take a while (but not 8 months worth). Reasons why he hasn't said it yet include: He's not sure about his feelings, He wants to make sure you're the one before saying it, He's not sure you'll say "I love you too" when saying it, He needs a special date to say it on to make it meaningful, He's not sure what the best way to say it is, He's been hurt in the past and doesn't feel like saying it willy-nilly, he'd rather say it if he means it.

Of course, then there's the other side of it, where he might like you a lot but not love you, where he might be comfortable in the relationship and doesn't want it to progress any farther, where he's too chicken to dump you because he knows you're in love with him and he's not in love with you and you're going to feel hurt (breakups always hurt someone), and so forth. But it doesn't sound like this in your case.

It took my man 14 months to say those 3 words to me.... I was STUNNED! How wonderful! I would have preferred Mr. Right's timeframe as it was just killing me. He always beat around the bush and was afraid of what it might mean... guess he got over the fear of "what it might mean"! He said it under his breath at about 7 months....(barely caught it, and I figured he wasn't quite ready). Recently he did that again... an under his breath "marry me". Who knows how long it will take until that is said completely out loud! He's worth waiting for, though!

I suppose it hasn't occured to ANY of you that he thinks the woman should be the one to say it first? Aren't women supposed to be more emotional than men? Aren't women supposed to be better at communicating than men? Can't women be honest about their feelings amymore?
