Three day weekend...then school starts so I want to do SOMETHING.

But I have no ideas. Lol. I can't very well go to my boyfriend and say "let's do something." He'll then say "like what?" which will lead to me saying "I dunno...." then I'll get "that look" and we'll end up watching movies inside all weekend long.

So I need IDEAS! Got any?

Grab today's paper and look in the weekend events section. Not sure where you live, but there are bound to be all sorts of outdoor things going on. You can also go online and find similar info.

What about getting some friends together for a bbq or party or whatever you all like to do?

I'm seeing an airshow this weekend. There's also hiking. Check your local newspaper. There's going to be ALOT of indoor and outdoor things to do this weekend.

Go see a live show. Raid the flea market for weird and interesting stuff. Eat somewhere you've never ate before. Grab a frisbee. Go swimmin'. Take a camera and go hiking. Go see a museum or zoo. Find a club in a town you don't normally go to and see if it's cool. Hop on a bike and go riding (if you've got a motor-sickle). Check the local stables and go horse back riding. Learn tai chi. Take a cool and crafty class... Lots of cool stuff to do this weekend. Wish mine was free. Have fun!

I know our local paper put out a "Guide to the Summer" with listings of tons of concerts, festivals, etc. -- if you have something like that, might be a good place to start.

Other thoughts: hop in the car for a short road trip, go for a hike and pack a picnic, mini-golfing, bowling, just hang out in a park somewhere and play frisbee, host a BBQ (for friends or just the two of you), visit a local comedy club, go for brunch, have a "game night" or poker night, play tourist for a day and go sightseeing in your area, visit a museum, catch a play or concert, cook a special dinner, go camping, visit a winery, get tickets for a sporting event, check out garage/yard sales in the area, work out together...forgot to check where you live, so some may not apply - but surely there's something here...

It's Memorial Day weekend and you live close to Washington, DC. Rolling Thunder will be revving engines for the weekend and there are a LOT of events happening this weekend.

WWII usually has something, Vietnam veterans will be congregating at The Wall, people will be around at the Korean Memorial, etc. There will be TONS of free activities and places to see this weekend. It'll be a great day to remember our veterans and service members during this time.

Why do you have "do something"? Why not "invent something"

Example : I had a hunch earlier this week that all my EH matches I was working on were about to cut me loose and that's exactly what happened. Rather than pout, I called everyone I knew to find out who was going to be in town. This rapidly turned into all day house party at my place on Saturday as we do an 8 hour pig roast, drain a half keg, and work our way through a round robin Guitar Hero competition. This may not be your bag, but this all sprouted up in 48 hours. I now need to cut work early to go hunt 30lbs of pork.

Point being that you don't necessarily need to do something. Just do stuff you guys like and run with it full force without thinking too hard. Even watching movies inside all weekend can be fun if you get a little creative with it. You could do a movie marathon and make pun-y dishes to go with that a la TBS's Dinner and a Movie. You could set up a tent in the backyard and watch Blair Witch and other scary camping movies. Don't let that guilty "I need to do something cool or I've wasted the long weekend" thinking get you down. It's your time, so enjoy it.
