I was dating this guy back in the summer for a few months and everything was great. He was super considerate, engaged, and wanted to meet my family and friends. He surprised me by saying he needed to be single, which we all know what that means...he either didn't want to date me for whatever reason anymore or he met someone else.

Well, since then, he is constantly initiating conversation and he suddenly wants to do everything together. While we don't have a physical relationship...he wants to have breakfast, shop, go hiking, go to movies, basically everything. We talk at work all day, we text over the phone all day. He is for sure flirting with me and is huggy feely, but hasn't tried anything else.

I mean could all this guy want is my friendship? Is he leading me on?

What is the deal? It is driving me insane.

He's dumped whoever he was seeing . . . you're the back up. When he finds someone else, he'll want to go hiking with someone else. I had a bf like that. He comes sniffing around when he doesn't have a girl friend . . . I don't leave any kibble or water around and I suggest you do the same.

Well, I would agree with that except we never had a "down" time. Weliterallywent from dating to an immediate friends thing. If he dumped her, I'm not sure when he'd have the time.

Could he be in the closet? Most straight guys would still pursue a physical relationship with a backup. If he's straight, then yes, he's leading you on with all the huggy-feely stuff.

for some reason, guys tend to think that they're more attractive when they have a prop, such as a baby/children or a dog.

in your situation, guys tend to also believe that they're more attractive to other women when they're with some hottie!!!!. you get it?

Sounds like you found a new best friend. You can kick your dog out now. Well at least you have an activities partner now, so all is not lost.

Asking him this week, I think. He came home from vacation last week and I wanted to give it a week to see what happened. I think I am 1. afraid of the answer and 2. wondering if he just needs time and/or 3. wondering why i am feeling the need to push labeling it. We are having fun and enjoying each other's company. I just know if he ended up dating someone, it would crush me.
