Well, actually...have you ever heard the saying, there is nothing so ordinary as acting extraordinary? Trying to please the inner sense of being 'original' sometimes allows us to gloss over and miss the true nature of things. To be honest, by the time you were halfway through with the speech you posted, my mind would have tuned you out and wondered if it was an open bar or not at the reception. Just be yourself, the right words will come then.

lol, i understand what you mean, but I dont want this for the people going to the wedding, this is for me and her. I dont care if the people think its boring or something, i just as long as she is listening, thats all i care about. I have a feeling that hers is just about 2 or 3 times longer than mine

So, Unlike most men, I am trying to get a head start on writing my wedding vows. But I dont want the common wedding vows, actually I dont want anything close to normal, she has already shared some of her ideas on what she is going to have in hers, and so did I.

We are looking for something thats serious, but has some humor (mabey not to other people but to us)

So my question would be; ALMOST EVERY WEDDING VOW, THEY USE TIL DEATH DO US PART. WELL ABOUT 57% OF THE TIME THATS NOT THE CASE. I WANT TO SAY BASICALLY THE SAME THING BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT WE ARE IN THIS TIL DEATH, AND NOT A SECOND BEFORE. WE BOTH DONT BELIEVE IN DIVORCE, BUT I DONT WANT TO SAY THAT IN THE VOWS BECAUSE, LETS FACE IT, WHO WANTS TO HEAR THE WORD DIVORCE ON THERE WEDDING DAY?

SO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HELPFUL INPUT? SOME SUGGESTIONS OR LINES THAT THEY MAY HAVE HEARD BEFORE HAND? (PLEASE DONT SAY THAT DIVORCE IS GOING TO COME OR SOMETHING, I AM IN HIGH SPIRTS, AND I DONT WANT TO HEAR SOMETHING LIKE THAT THANKS IN ADVANCE)

here are some of the lines that we came up with together that we agreed to put in mine, (We have some in hers but I dont exactly remember them)

We have had, under no means, a normal relationship. We met in a way that is still considered taboo in the worlds eyes. But we have never been considered normal. Your everything that I have wanted in a wife, plus so much more. Your my angle that was sent from heaven, you are the women of my dreams, and the women I have been praying for every night since I started getting interested in women, which was like 2 or 3, I think.

We have so much in common, but yet we have come from such different back grounds. You have been a big city girl all your life, and I have been a country boy all of my life. Or as you call me, your big city redneck.

We have overcome so many challenges through or relationship already, TOGETHER. We lived 12 hours away from each other, and we did everything to make sure that never affect our relationship. I Would drive there every friday after my 14 hour shift at work, and drive strait there, and stay up til we passed out together at 2 or 3 am sunday morning. And wake up at 9am and drive back. We have never let anyone affect our relationship, even though your parents (look at them) dont like me, they cant doubt that I will always treat you like a queen.

You are so incrediable, so wonderful, and so amazing. You know I will always be there to support you, no matter what the task is. and I know you will do the same. I still remember when we first started talking about kids, and I told you that I couldnt be a typical husband when your pregnant. I cant do any of the special things that normal husbands do while their wife is pregnant, that they normally wouldnt do. Because I would be already be doing those things before hand.

I promise to always put my dirty clothes in the hamper and to always replace the toilet paper roll when its empty. I promise never to purposly put the toilet seat up again, because you wouldnt let me go fishing, you want to go shopping instead, no matter how much I want to go fishing, I dont want to fish you out of the toilet.

I promise to Love, Honor, And Cherish and respect you. to be 100% faithful, and for you always to get your way all of the time. To stand by your side in everything, in sickness and in health, and on all federal holidays.

So i just need an ending, the death do us part, but in different terms

Thanks

I don't thinkyou should bring up her parents not liking you. That would make the mood very uncomfortable and awkward and this is supposed to be a joyous occassion. Be selfless, say only wonderful things to her that will make her feel good, and show her parents that they are wrong. You take that opportunity to take a jab at them and they'll feel pretty justified in their dislike of you. Just my 2 cents, take if for what it's worth.

I agree with you, but that is one of the MANDATORY things she wants in the vows

As is often the case, less is more. If you can't articulate your thoughts simply, you probably don't know what your saying.

Good Luck to you.

Wow. Just wow. She's mandating that you make everyone uncomfortable by even saying it, but also by directing you to look at them? Doesn't sound like "this is all about us". Sounds like a cheap shot and not sure why you would allow that to be part of your vows.

Say "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred MINUS one day so I will never have to live without you."
