I understand that it seems unrealistic to some that one can know the will of God for one's life.

The simple explanation is, such people do not have a close relationship with God in the first place. Or, at least, God does not occupy His rightful place in their respective lives. If He does, this would be a nonissue. As long as God remains this mythical, distant personality, knowing His will for your life will simply be inconceivable. Indeed, you may not even be able to fathom the idea that He has any particular interest in you as a person. It's like saying the president of the United States is interested in knowing what I had for lunch yesterday.

Many people go through life without any cohesive goal. They go from job to job, relationship to relationship, without any meaningful existence. They spend most of their lives working at dead end jobs, with only brief interruptions they call "vacations" in between. At the end of the day, they "retire", after having wasted their very existence, and having nothing substantial to show for it, except for bills, a ricketty house that took 30 years to pay for, and severe arthritis at the joints. Even in their retirement, what do they do? Drink beer, travel to some dreaded third world, and get fat. Because this dance is so common it has become the norm. Thus, when someone refuses to tow this wasteland of meaningless existence, and they seek (and obtained) God's directions for their lives, they are branded as "religious nuts".

I often tell people that cigarette smoking is the most expensive habit anyone can have. The greatest tragedy, in my opinion, is for someone to go through life without knowing what they were here for. They not only deprive the world of their worth, they also become willing instruments to advance the devil's kingdom.

No, my point was to know your destiny before choosing a mate. I know the will of God for my life which is my destiny, so I chose His will for my life. His will for my life is my destiny.

Hope this helps.

Dont say you "KNOW" the will of god, say you believe the will of god. Lets now annoint ourselves deity status.

On the contrary, I KNOW the Will of God for my life.

I John 2:20
But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things.

I John 2:27
But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].

The Will of God is the Word of God. As far as believing, I believe the Bible from cover to cover.

prove it!

a;hh, Dan..it is the spirit, not the letter of the law laid down. Faith is that which knows, unseen, unheard, unproven. And lack of faith is proof positive of gods' grace denied. I just love to mangle Pascal.[/quote]

So like I said in the first place, its a belief and not knowledge. Good.

I think the KNOWING of what is supposed to be Gods will, or plan is a little over the top, that said keep in mind all that you KNOW is just stuff you've learned..... that dosen't make it true or accurate!!

Of course you CAN know the will of God. As a matter of fact, you are REQUIRED to know the will of God for your life. Your very life after death depends on how well you carry out His will for your life. Or do you think God gave you life and time for the fun of it---to spend as you please? Not at all. How can you carryout God's will for your life if it is not possible to know it?

Again, if God does not show you his will, He cannot judge you based on how well you carry it out. If He shows you and you decide not to see or find out, then the responsibility lies with you. Just because you do not know His will for you does not mean other do not knowGod's will for their lives. At least I know what God's will is for me. That precisely helps me to know the type of woman I am looking for who will be a help and not a distraction.

All those who do not know God's will for them in this life are simply living at random. When you aim at nothing in particular you will always hit the mark.
Ah, the joys of believing in reincarnation and a God who loves and supports me and isn't watching me with his finger hoovering over the "smite" button. I'll just fix whatever I screw up this time the next time around!

CelticLark,

I am sorry but I must disagree somewhat with you. While it is true that God indeed loves all of us and wants to see the best for us, there is no such thing as reincarnation. God never promised it and there is no proof anyone has ever come back here to make amends for what they did wrong. Do you know anyone who came back?

When we breath our last then our destinies are fixed for all eternity. It is appointed to men and women to die once, then face judgement afterwards. We can only affect our destinies while here on earth. That is why God allows so many chances during our only existence here. When we die there is no amend. None. Sorry.

We must do all the good we want to do in this life at this time when we have the opportunity.

That's okay. You can disagree with me all you want. I won't try to change your mind. I know what my experiences have taught me and I can respect your right to interpret the Bible however you want.

A lot of the messages out there running loose under the guise of serving God, is nothing more than manifest non-sense, and not real good counsel. I was created to be thankful for His work finished before the foundations of the worlds, and rest in His righteousness and stop trying to replace His with mine.

If you are lucky enough in life to find someone to love, and who loves you, you had better cherish the moment. For we all know by experience that life is but for a moment....and no one can know what tomorrow will bring. Tell those whom you love that you do, and do it often....

We are all free to believe what we want, really. That does not make our beliefs right. Some people still believe in Santa Claus, even though available evidence suggests to the contrary.

I was only saying what I knew and that is real to me. No one can change your mind but you.

Eternal damnation awaits those who question God's infinite love.

This is a matter of faith,.....

Like how you test my faith in human kind, when you stopped thinking in sunday school, and starting parroting what was supposedly said 2000yrs ago.

Don't like that? Then forgive me.
