Why would i worry? As a feminist I have been able to make my own money and can pay for both meals, even the many plates that i obvoiusly eat due to the fact i am obese. How could I expect a poor man to have to pay for my gluttony, isn't that right? I am sure you agree.

As many times as this subject has come up regarding women paying their own way, I still don't think it is a matter of who is able to pay, as much as it is a matter of whether or not the man has any manners or not, or if he would like to go on another date with that particular woman.

I concur with what some of the other said about the term "feminist" being rather vague. I always thought that a feminist, a true feminist, was someone who supported equal rights and pay for women and men. Someone who wanted women to have the same opportunities as men to succeed. If that's a feminist then I absolutely would date one.

I think that the media has helped perpetuate this myth, though, about "feminists" being the stereotypical NOW types who scream and shriek anti-male speeches. They are these radical, far-left women who are power-hungry and want to punish men for the oppression and suffering they have had to endure for the past 200 years.

Personally, I believe that most Americans are in the middle and they don't like extremists either on the left or on the right. This is why most Americans including women reject the politics of the NOW leadership because they are so far out of the mainstream. So if that is how feminism is being defined, I would probably not date someone like that. But I also don't think it's healthy to narrow your dating preferences to men or women who ideologically are identical to your beliefs.

goodthings, what or to whom are you referring to? I'm not entirely sure I understand your viewpoint or where you're coming from. Or even what you're arguing against. Or even if you're actually arguing anything, for that matter.

You have yet to actually voice an opinion. Or research, for that matter. You've voiced the fact that you're offended, I suppose you have a right to be offended. I'm still not sure what exactly you're offended about, though.

While I agree that certain posters did put a simplistic explanation I would challenge your idea that "militant feminists" are rare. I do go to college and I know quite a few. In fact, of the women I know that would consider themselves "feminists" the majority believe the concept that men oppress women because we have to be in charge blah blah blah .

That's what these guys think of when they hear "feminist" and if they haven't seen something else they would naturally respond with a dislike towards what they've seen of feminism. While I suppose it's technically ignorant getting angry at them for it is like getting angry at a child for his ignorance. The only cure for ignorance is knowledge. Being offended and haughty about it simply demonstrates arrogance and I'm pretty sure that's not the message you wanted to send.

I simply must challenge your statements because they contradict each other in nature. It appears you do not agree that feminism is hostile to men in nature and that it is instead liberating yet your posts appear both hostile and degrading towards yourself. Why?

I want you to continue in this thread because I honestly don't know your position nor where you're coming from. I can't agree or disagree with your statements. I'm not even sure what you're offended about.

Perhaps out of my ignorance? =)

This is truly bizarre.

This is the thread where I was having most of my posts moderated and deleted. When I said that I'm off this site for good, my threads began appearing again.

I'm truly beside myself with this moderation.

I'm truly beside myself with this moderation.
My assumption isthat there is a huge backlog of computer moderated posts from the long weekend that the humansmust just be getting through now.

I haven't even bothered to see if any of my moderated posts have now appeared (I wouldn't even know where to look!).

I realize that this is getting off topic, but frustrating is the only word I can think of.

Backlog or not, I DO think we need clearer guidelines for exactly which words are allowed and which ones aren't. From what I've heard from other people, moderators seem to be objecting to ordinary everyday words and allowing obscene ones to get through. I think the human and the computer have to start working together a little better.

Mimi29...no,all threadsaren't this contentious. Some are...and then they go on and on and on. I think overall you'll come to enjoy the forum. Welcome.

Relevant to the thread, while it feelseasy tometo submit posts thatseem likely to get a positive response from people....I think it's only fair that I be willing to submithonest posts that are likely to get negative responses. So I'll do that now.

I don't think I could marry a woman who wouldn't take my last name. Gasp! While there was a time in the past when I think I would have. At the present my thought/feeling is that I would literally be willing to give my life to protect my wife if need be...and so I wouldn't feel good about marrying a woman who wasn't even willing to give up her name to marry me. OK....feel free to let me have it if you like.
