The original list includes some very funny movies, but it is skewed toward the lowbrow (Blazing Saddles, Caddyshack), and toward gross-out comedies (Borat, There's Something About Mary). Most of all, it ignores the first half of film history -- the oldest movie on the list, Dr. Strangelove, is from 1964, and that is the only one on the list from before 1970.

As a partial corrective, here is a list of 20+ very funny films, all of them good date movies, and all from before 1964:
