I have recently done a course of 10 indoor climbing lessons for students. The group consisted of 15 people and there was a guy I really like in this group.

I have climbed together with him 3 times (I didn't have the same climbing partner everytime, the instructor would couple people up).

once you've finished the course you can go 'free climbing' anytime you want at the student climbing center. There's always other students at the center you can climb/couple up with.

The course finished last week and I didn't climb with the guy I like this time. He climbed together with another girl.

However, at the end of the course, before he went home, he came to talk to me and asked me to go free climbing together sometime and asked for my number. I now wonder whether this means that he likes me too ...

what do you think? it seems a positive sign but it could also be he was just looking for a random climbing partner?

He's keeping his options open, and so should you. Don't over analyze who the other girl was and never ask him!! At least he asked you to join him again!

well the instructor coupled him to the other girl (she was from our course group too) so I don't worry about that

Option #3: He enjoyed climbing with you and wants to do it again. At this early stage, he doesn't have to decide whether you'd make a better friend or lover or backup climbing partner or nothing. This is an opportunity for you to get to know him better, too.

Umm...of all the people there finding a "random" climbing partner is not the reason he asked for your number. It sounds like interest , but he may or may not call...Good Luck..

To me the more important question is whether you like him. Do you? If you do, get your mad flirting skills out and make sure that you have a good time together!

Playing coy about your feelings for him, if you do like him, is generally quite counterproductive.

I wouldn't necessarily interpret this as romantic interest. I know a lot of people who climb and know that it isn't always easy to find a partner. I know many of them have turned to Craig's List or flyers in their gym so it may be nothing more than him acknowledging that if he wants to pursue this hobby he needs someone to climb with. I think how your next interactions go will show whether he's interested in more. And I agree start practicing your flirting skills.
