Why not use online dating? If the concern is that a relationship isn't feasible, I disagree. Also there are plenty of Americans that reside in Europe and plenty of ex-pats everywhere, so craft your profile indicating you'd like to be contacted by American women. I get contacted by many "French" men living overseas. I would imagine the reverse is true. Besides, from what friends tell me Internet Dating is more popular in Europe than it is here. Good luck to you.

Well....you can't meet that one special girl without dating...and kissing a lot of frogs....lol....

Anyway, if you like hiking and camping, look around for local groups and clubs that do that - use google, ask around, put a word out so to speak. They are out there, just got to find them and join them. Even if you go talk to your local tourist info center and explain that you live there and are looking to find some hiking/camping company, they'll point you in the right direction. It doesn't mean that you'll find your girl there, but you will meet more like minded people and expand your social circle and possibilities, which will get you closer to your end goal.

Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets.

I've tried a few, and it's not impossible, just very difficult... the amount you have to invest in someone before you even meet them is considerably more than normal. I haven't thought about specificity asking for american women who live in Europe. That could be really helpful thank you for your insight!

Dancingfool I like where your mind is at, I've got mild social anxiety that I need to work on before I go that crazy and start doing all these things with random people alone that I don't know... however, maybe I could talk a friend into getting out and trying some of this with me. I'm just afraid if no one joins me I'll shy away from the idea even though I really like it. Any tips for getting out more solo.

Sure, bringing a friend helps. You will find that activity groups like that have super friendly people - the activity is an instant bond.
