A letter in the mail is more precious than a 1000 IMs

I was chatting with a guy through the e-mail system of another site. I mentioned how I had accidentally left the lights on, on my (dad's) truck and he sent me something where **** was put in place of part of or maybe the entire word. I couldn't figure it out.

It said "Hope u werent enjoying those****ails while you left those lights on. : )"

After a couple of exchanges of trying to figure out what he wrote, I got this "What I wrote? Are you saying thse missing words in the sentence. Cause those words are Drinks! Mixed Drinks. Otherwise, I have no clue what your talking about."

It seems to me the system really took some liberties in deciding what I should and should not see in a private e-mail. But, it did create some good exchanges and a lot of laughing.

Anyone have a similar experience with a site editing or filtering messages between you and a match?

ETA: After receiving the explanation I finally see what was edited. LOL

I was trying to respond to a thread on here a while ago about texting- a guy had put 'what santa says 3 times, the 2 letter word' instead of hi on accident... so I responded with- what did you just call me?!?

At least I hope it was an accident...hmmm

but it got modded... oh well I made sure not to use that word in this =)

Moderation on here is different. It's a public forum. This was a PRIVATE message between him and I. No one else would see it.

I know exactly what site you are talking about and that happened to me quite often for reasons I couldn't understand.

Yeah- that is weird that it was a private message- maybe it's time to give him your e-mail address so you two can talk about drinking alcoholic beverages freely =)
