Given DLions thread ....I am wondering what you think is the stereotype of a single shopper in the supermarket would be?

What do you expect the single opposite sex would have in the cart or basket?

Outside the brutually obvious...what would they buy that would say to you they are in a relationship? (If you see a single guy buying feminine hygiene items you say he has a serious girlfriend, you see a woman buying mens shampoo/razors would say she has a man in his life)

How much in quantity/size of common items would you say this person is buying for more than just themselves but instead for a family?

I was in line one time unloading and a woman came up behind me with a basket that I crap-you-not had the following in it:

Bottle of cheap yellowtail white wine
Lean cuisine meal
Snickers ice cream
midol
Chick movie from the redbox

If there were a stereotypical 5-item purchase for a single girl this would probably be it.

Ramon noodles= probably single lol

I would think a lot of easy make or microwavable food would be considered "singles" food.

My friends who make a lot of effort to cook usually have someone else they are cooking for.

well, all I know is the cart of a single woman. me! and that cart often has yogurt, skim milk, small portions of fruit and vegetables, one package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, granola, wine.

the difference in my shopping as a single woman vs. a single mom is that I was only buying a half gallon of milk before my son came along. now I buy a full gallon. and I do buy bananas in a bunch, rather than two or three. and sometimes there is a box of organic kid-friendly cereal such as Gorilla Munch or Panda Puffs in the cart. other than that, he eats what I eat so my cart wouldn't always reflect a child in the household other than the gallon of milk that is always present.

Depends on what type.

I bring my lunch to work so I will buy either healthy choice, lean cuisine, smart ones frozen meals for my lunch at work.

I did the same when I was married.

Where I work I only am schedule for a half hour lunch and there aren't many lunch options other than a couple of fast food places. Even going tothose is about a 10-15 minute drive in traffic.
