Does it bother anyone else when women show up to a first or second date with chipped nail polish? To me it says that they didn't take the date seriously enough to put their best impression forward. Something that looks like this:
http://cdn.thegloss.com/files/2010/10/chippedpolish.jpg
It also makes me wonder that if something so outward visible as the nails are not taken care of then what else is not being maintained?

I know it is only for a coffee meetup but I think expecting some level of decency is alright. I've had a few over dress up and come in heels and nice jeans and we will usually move the date to a bar so we don't get stares from progressive hippies. But I have seen chipped nail polish on more than 2 dates this month. If someone can't respect me enough to prepare for a date and doesn't respect herself enough to not come out like an orphan then that justifies what you girls call a POOF. Next time it happens to you check your nail polish.

Goodness! It's almost as bad as the date I had who hadn't combed his mustache before our date. I spent half the time fixated on that one whisker that wasn't completely parallel to the others. It was horrible!

First a chipped nail, next, the woman's not showering for a month.

Seriously, you're going to NEXT someone over a chip in their nail polish? THAT's poor hygiene? I was expecting to hear a story about body odor or slept-in clothes. Would you be okay with a woman being a half hour late to a date because she chipped her polish when she was on the way to meeting you?

not A CHIP. chipped as in there is more nail showing than there is nail painted. On many fingers.

Chipped nail polish is NOT a sign poor hygiene ... maybe scruffiness or untidiness ...

It doesn't EVER EVER justify being poofed on.... pooffing on someone is plain rude

If the nails are scruffy and untidy then what else is scruffy and untidy? Shudder to think about it.

And i'm not saying dress up. But cracked nail paint when you are making a good impression? How would you feel if a guy showed up in tennis shoes or with dirt under his fingers?

They probably do their nails for the guy before you, had wild sex in the car, got all messed up and rush off for that last minute coffee date with you...tough break....Good Luck

or worse, chipped toenail polish! ugh!!! I've been known to stop for a pedicure on my way to a date just to avoid this horrible situation.

(for those who think I'm kidding, I'm not. )
