I would rather see a guy list activities and interests that he used to do but maybe hadn't done in a long time if he hoped to do them again - with or without a partner - than activities that he used to do and had no desire to ever do again. I don't consider it a lie. It's not a lie to say "I've always wanted to try underwater basket weaving". Does it belong in a profile? Probably not. I would hope that most people have enough other actual interests that they don't have to fill up their profile with things that they have never done, but thought about maybe doing someday.

Now Ingy, didn't you say just the other day in another reply to EHJC to leave out the blatant sex talk in the early stages of communication?
Oops....bad Ingy!!!

On my profile on PoF, I have a completely fictions list of in the activities section, and it is quite obvious. I include things like 'underwater basket weaving', 'studying mating rituals of forest shrew' and 'Team Jacob'. I do mention some of the things I like to do, but I keep it rather generic. For one thing, I don't think that my partner needs to share my activities. I state in the general section that I workout 3-5 days a week, and had a woman write me and say she thought I was funny, but not a good match because she doesn't work out. I honestly don't care if my partner works out (as long as she's hot). As well, I feel like I'm very flexible. I can enjoy doing lots of different things.

I used to do kickboxing and did mention it in my profile, but removed it when I dropped the class. I did not want to give the wrong impression. I got a heavy bag in my garage now and have picked it up a bit, but still, not going to mention it as it would probably give the impression that I spend a lot of time with it.

Personally, I think activities are best explained outside of the profile. There is just too much interpretation about why it's included. So you like motorcycles...does that mean you won't date someone who doesn't ride? Will guys not contact her because they think they are disqualified? I have also seen profiles where they state that they work out 5 days a week and run atleast 15 miles...and could not date a man who's not physically fit on a similar level. Great, nice and clear...sort of.

Yea, keep it generic I think, unless it truly defines you, takes up much of your time, or defines dealbreakers in your partner (and stated as such). You can go over details later.
