so i starting going on dates with someone i met at work, actually i came upon her on a dating website and asked if she remembered me from work...anyways we started going on dates and we hit it off right off the bat, we talk like weve known each other for years...i feel really comfortable around her...i know girls tend to get attached a bit quicker and im ok with that...anyways, she tells me shes falling for me...that im perfect and the best guy she has met(shes had a rough past)...its kind of shocking, i dont want her to rush her feelings, i want her to be completely sure about this...nor do i want her to get bored...anyways...is this right or normal? what do you guys think of this all?

ps...been dating since the end of the year...no intimacy either(too soon)

How long have you been dating? 3 weeks or 3 months? Big difference. How often do you see each other? Have you been intimate? What do you mean by, "i want her to be completely sure about this?"

Need more details.

weve been dating since the end of last year...intimate...no, i believe its too soon for that, so we havent been dating for that long and we see each other about once or twice a week...and by sure i mean, i want her to know that what she feels is right rather then just an impulse...

Sometimes women have a tendency to gush when they are excited, so don't take it too seriously and don't get freaked out. She is telling you that she really likes you and thinks you are great, she is not asking you to get married tomorrow. So try not to read more heavy meaning into what she says than warranted. She likes you, you like her, you guys are having fun, so relax and carry on.

It sounds like with the quick attachment, 'rough past"...and effusiveness...that you're worried she may get clingy or needy after "intimacy"?

I think it is normal and she is just excited. Heck if I found a nice guy I might start spouting love sonnets too....as the desert gets pretty dry and Lord knows I've spent a lot of time there.

OP--

One of two things is happening:

  1. Normal: She's excited about starting a new relationship. Some people are gushers and just share their feelings freely. Enjoy it.
  2. Abnormal: Someone who has had a "rough past" and says "shes falling for me...that im perfect and the best guy she has met..." after 2 weeks or 4 dates just might be looking for a savior.

Time will tell which it is. For now, I would suspect door #1 but keep door #2 in the back of your mind.

Best of luck!
