From. My experiences...

Outside of free communication weekend periods I would on average get a firstmeet about once every six weeks. I would usually get to open communication with 2-3 people during that time.

During the free communication times I would usually get to open communication with four of them which would lead to a IEEE meet with one.

If any of ya'll have not read the thread "Your Online Dating Manual" in the Using eHarmony section by Nightling I'd highly reccomend that you take a look at it. There's some great advice in there!

Recently 2-3 a month, which for my schedule is manageable. A 2nd or 3rd date on a few of those starts to become a little much. I have no idea how people meet 2-3 in one day. It's not so much I don't have the energy, I just have no interest in devoting all my free time to first dates.

Now, in another large city - and this was a few years ago - it was more like 1 a year. Probably 80% of my matches were inactive, in fact locally it pretty well dried-up after a few months the larger metro area a few hours away I doubt had much interest in long-distance matches (nor did I, really - I talked with a few but never worked out a meet).

The tell-tale sign for me was when I took a break for a few months and when I logged back in, out of the some 200 matches (again, mostly long-distance) maybe 20 had viewed my profile. Is that deceptive? I don't know, maybe some/most women only view matches that contact them. And, no, the % was no better locally.

My numbers there (doing this as it's probably fairly relevant to the average user in smaller cities):
- call it 50 matches a week
- maybe 10 were active
- 2 of those were probably of interest to me that I contacted
- maybe 30% responded to my GC request
- probably 2/3 poofed before stage 3
- another 2/3 poof at stage 3
- a couple more send 1 or 2 emails and disappear
So I think out of 100 active (which is very generous, the number who continued to be active is much less) I contacted, I got 2 dates out of it.

So I was batting about 1 out of 50, recently it's been better than 1 out of 10 (haven't changed anything in my approach, either, just moved several months ago).

Additionally, of the some 40 people I have in GC limbo (initial and various stages), probably 1/2-3/4 have "gone dark" since last (in some cases only) communication.

I don't know that doing this analysis will make people feel any better about the service, but it may make you feel a little better about yourself that you're not being rejected or passed over nearly as much as you might think.

On the other hand, it wasn't worth another $35 or whatever for those people to see where it went with me (or come back for a free comm weekend, although I'm not sure how well EH gets that message out there).

Probably one new date a week. Sometimes it was more sometimes less. Sometimes one new date and one 2nd date.
