ok, I've just spotted this in the thread. I would never meet someone without a contact number or I expect you will risk getting these kind of situations. Can you get a 2nd mobile number which is a cheap disposable phone?

I think this is pretty good advice actually, and is pretty much what I do.

I let them know I don't use my cell phone except for traveling and that they should not assume it will be checked after the date. That way they know not to use it later.

I do think something sounds a bit off with this story. He would surely have waited longer than 8 minutes for you to arrive if he had been at the location?

I suppose you could give him one more try. If it happens again ... then it won't be a fluke any more eh?

I did give him one more try... we met for lunch. He said his clock was 30 minutes off... that's why he thought he stayed for 40 minutes, but must have stayed for less than 10 and we just missed each other.

We all lose track of time, but how does someone mistake 10 minutes for 40?

Don't know what to tell you other than everyone should be entitled to at least one mistake, without debating if this was really minor/innocent or not.

So you met him anyway? How did it go otherwise?
