Just for fun, I'm curious if any of y'all have dated in a situation were the guy is a lot taller then the girl. I have a lunch date on Thursday...I'm 6'3", she's 5'1".

I actually have dated someone shorter then her before, but not very long, and not since college. It's kind of a vague memory. I remember kind of enjoying the fact that it was so easy to pick her up (she weighed sub 100lbs.) but she was kind of annoyed that I did that. The height also added to the cuteness factor.

The big downside was the kissing while standing was kind of difficult. At full standing, there is no way I could really kiss her. I had to find a wall to lean against, or better yet, a stairwell. Anyone else experience this sort of thing?

Hi Mel,

My bf is 6'1" and I'm 4'11", so that's about the same. I'm sure we look pretty strange to a lot of people when we're out walking together. We've found ways to make everything we want to do work. I wear heels a lot of the time, but even when I don't he has figured out how to angle himself down while I stretch way up to kiss. I guess if you want something bad enough you find a way to make it work!

He doesn't pick me up but he thinks it's funny to drape his arm over my shoulders when we're walking. If you've never done it, it's really hard to walk when an extra 14" of human is hanging over you.

I hope you and she have lots of fun!

Since I feel like 6+ inches is "too tall" for me most of the time (that would be over 6'3), I feel like I've experienced an extreme height difference even though it really wouldn't be to most people. I like the fit of being close in height.

My brother has dated a number of girls a foot or more shorter than him and it didn't seem to be a problem (due, in large part, to both of them having a sense of humor about it).

A friend of mine is 6'4", and has always dated, and married Asian women that are 5' and under. They have also been under 100 pounds.

No problem kissing when the they could just climb up him .

I dated a man who was 6'4" once. I'm 5'4". It was better when I wore heels.

I stood on his feet sometimes...to kiss. I actually think it's nice...when the man can pick me up.

Princess-like.

At 5'7", I'll never have the same height issues you have (good or bad), but I feel the same kind of awkward way about dating someone who is really *small* - sub ~125is lbs. If I can 'easily' pick her up, there is going to come a time when the thought that I'm physically dating a child is going to cross my mind.

While I'm sure there are loads of men who disagree, I think that's just ...ewwww.

Yeah, I was in the same boat. I'm also 6'3", and I did go on a handful of dates with girls that were under 5'4" back when I was dating.

I realized that it wasn't my thing, and I was honestly only attracted to girls that were 5'7" and above. So that's what I used as a filter (and I met a nice 5'9" girl and married her).

The extreme height difference was a bit much.

I'm close to 6ft.

I met a girl from match last year. I think said on the profile she was 5ft 2, by the time she reached the bedroom she was a few inches shorter. She'd also lied about her age. This is why I have doubts about people who lie.... if they lie about one aspect however minor they probably think it's acceptable to be liar.

Kim Kardashian is 5'2" and her fiance Kris Humphries is 6'9". That's a 19 inch differemce!!! He's so tall that things like his shoulder width and head size are much larger than normal as well.

When you see them in a distance shot, it looks like a man walking with his 5 year old daughter.

But, they seem very happy together.

I'm almost 6' 2" and most girls are a good 8" to 10" shorter. I'm used to it now. If I ever landed a 6 footer that would've been a plus but it looks like that ain't gonna happen.
