CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY ALL OF THE MEN I'VE DATED IN THE PAST AND PRESENT ARE LEFT-HANDED?  I DON'T KNOW THEY'RE LEFT-HANDED WHEN I MEET THEM.

There's nothing to be upset about. ...?

One theory is that people who are left handed were exposed to more testosterone in the womb.

There is a theory that monozygotic/mirror twins don't share the same handedness because of how they develop in the womb. An extension of that theory is that it is possible all left handed people had a mirror twin in the womb and the right handed baby was absorbed, or for some other reason didn't make it. Perhaps you are, in fact, a right-handed surviving twin and subconsciously you miss your sibling enough to search for some sign of her in your mate.

If you are a lefty, this theory goes right out the window.

Left handedness is supposed to be a sign of intelligence.

BTW I am right handed. Draw your own conclusions.

The article is wrong. The first thing women look for in a guy is height.

Haha, I'm just going to assume you're joking.

Actually, the first thing I look at in a guy's profile is his picture. For better or for worse, I need to know if I find him attractive enough to have some physical attraction to him. I then look at his occupation. I don't have particular occupations in mind, but I prefer guys who seem to be at least somewhat ambitious and career-driven. If I'm comfortable with both his picture and his occupation, I'll start reading his answers, to see if he appears to have a balanced life. It's also important to me that he's taken the time to write clear answers that aren't riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. If I'm comfortable with all of that, I'll send him questions.

You've replaced the article's premise that women look for men with confidence and inner strength with the stereotype that we care about their looks and occupation more! How could you?

Haha, sorry! I can't really glean confidence and inner strength from an online profile, so I leave that to the first date. When evaluating an online profile, I have to stick to the relatively more objective criteria.

Actually ... I am not joking at all.

On Match, in particular, where there is a list of the 24 criteria that you select for searching it is VERY rare that a height range is not chosen. (Not chosen would be the broadest range possible, 3'0" to 8'11". However, on the other hand it is not at all unusual to have most of the other criteria set as No Preference. I got a match yesterday where the only thing selected was height and every other criteria was No Preference.

Wow ... I mean, I guess I'd prefer to date a guy taller than me, but I've never really had to worry about it, since I'm only 5'3.5'', so the vast majority of guys are taller than me. I don't think height would ever be a dealbreaker for me, though. I actually ended up dating a guy in high school who was awesome, and who I'm pretty sure was single because he was short (5'5''). It's just the loss of all the other girls who overlooked him because of his height!
