I've asked in a couple of cases.

I always need to have a lot of talks about sex because my 'issues' (which I will avoid discussing right now). My past is fairly short and simple so there isn't really any uncertainty about me.

It would easily lead into a 'what's your experience been' type of conversation.

But, it also seems like that "virgin" wouldn't really be giving the most accurate picture, either.

I don't ask and don't care to know. So long as she is clear of STDs and I fall in the upper half of her rating system of satisfaction...lol.

I think the main reason people ask for a number is to determine how promiscuous or chaste their potential partner was, and I think demanding a number is a very poor way to obtain that info. You can glean a lot more information from conversation and observation than you can from a number that likely has all types of asterisks and footnotes behind it!

I don't ask and I can't think of a number that would bother me, except for 0 (as that would show we have wildly differing views and we likely could not sustain a relationship).

When I was in hs, a lot of girls were having oral sex as a way of maintaining their virginity, but still being sexual. I think it goes against the 'spirit' of things, but I technically don't consider it sex.
So I would say a person that has had oral sex but not intercourse is a virgin, but not very virginal! lol. That's why I think numbers don't give that much info- you never know what people are including and what they are leaving out.

BTW, this wasn't my practice. In a lot of ways, I think that's more intimate than actual sex...
