Yes, after finally getting a horrible ex out of my life. I became convinced that there was no one out there who would want me, that I'd never find anyone, and if I did, they'd just treat me the same way.

Happily, I've gotten pretty far from that mindset, though it still does creep in sometimes.

Why did you have such a mindset? Also, what happened for you to change your mindset for the better?

Lastly, do you really think you would want to remain single for the rest of your life?

I often do so.

Obviously, when I have someone.

Even when I don't, I periodically give up. Too few quality people to make it worth the effort.

I don't know that I give up so much as go through breaks. If I've been out on quite a few dates in a couple month span and it hasn't led to a serious relationship I usually get a bit burnt out and want to take a break for awhile.

I do believe that taking breaks is healthy. Sometimes, it is best to take a lil hiatus in order to get your mind and heart right. However, I don't think it is healthy to permanently write everyone off. Better days do lie ahead for all of us IMHO.
