The year's drawing to a close (it's almost Thanksgiving, we'll blink and it will be 2011!) which has me pondering the happenings of 2010...and wondering,

What was your very best date this year?

Tell us about it! Did anything come of it?

It's still to come.

But, fingers crossed.

my very best date this year was a visit to one of the redwood forests. we had a great time, and i think we were both pretty equally engaged in enjoying the scenery and getting to know each other better.

we're planning to spend some time near tahoe, soon - and i'm really looking forward to it.

Is this "best date" as in activity or as in person?

My best date was no more than dinner and walking around a street fair with one of my matches. Still talking to her but our schedules don't mesh very well so it's going really really slow.

March 27. All day.

We're there at about 8 am (and I'm a night owl), at the River City Ballroom Dance Competition, already I'm in my tux and she's in her gown and we're practicing for later. She had never done a competition before.

She's in one of the first five heats and I'm up to dance with her. That means *I* (and not her instructor) get to be the first man who dances with her in a competition.

We danced a number of times that day, then went to my house to rest up for the evening, which was a black-tie affair including seeing two Blackpool finalist Latin dancers perform after dinner. (Blackpool is invitation only, so only the best of the best worldwide even get invited.) Then they announce the awards. She wins Best Newcomer Student and I get Best Bronze Student (and 2 other trophies). We both have plaques crowded with 1st place medallions from the competition.

And after the awards, still in tux and evening gown (like we were at 8 am that morning) we get to dance the evening away with each other.

Made the two hour drive to go out on a fourth date with the new guy I was seeing, and that evening snowmaggedon hit. Ended up spending five days with him before roads were passable. We've been inseparable ever since.
