OK, I need help! I am just getting back into the dating scene after a 18 year marriage. I have someone flying in from Europe and we are spending the weekend in New York City. I have no idea of where to go with this. I did get my own hotel room. Any ideas..

The concierge at the hotel is a little known secret. They can do everything from recommend places to eat, make reservations to get tickets (they often have some on hand for their guests) and make excellent suggestions as to nearby attractions.

Is this a first meeting with someone from another country in a city where you don't live? I hope he shows up.

This coming weekend?

Halloween parade in Greenwich Village (The Village is a fun stroll any time of the year.)
Walk through Central Park (the leaves have turned, so it should be more beautiful than usual)
Top of the Rock (kudos to Trek -- going there is tons better than going to the Empire State Building. Also, the Rockefeller Center ice rink has opened for the season.)
If you're into Italian food, Eataly just opened up near Madison Square; the restaurants are a bit overrated from what I hear, but the market area sounds fun and tasty.

AVOID Times Square. It's turned into one huge suburban shopping mall -- overcrowded, overpriced and nothing like the real New York.

Also, pick up Time Out New York when you get into the city -- they usually have some great last-minute ideas, like fun walking tours, events, etc.

For a good, fun, semi-creepy time have lunch or dinner at Jekyll & Hyde's...the whole restaurant is "alive"...bar stools move up and down while you're chatting, pictures on the walls join in your conversation...VERY fun!

Also, if things are going well, a carriage ride near Central Park is always a romantic thing to do...but NOT a rickshaw ride!
