I agree Laced - I know there are good guys out there. I'm just having a small break for a while to recharge before I try to find one!

Not one man I've been out with has paid for the date. SHOCKING! ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING! These men are in their late 40's to 50's, not their teens, though they act that way. Next time this happens I'm checking if they wear a diaper or have a pacifier hidden in their back pocket. After all, the behavior is getting more immature. When the bill comes they just sit therestaring at the check,so I always pay my portion. No way do I pay his. One blew me away when he was telling me how much money he makes and then said it would be nice if I paid my part. He also happened to be a psychiatrist. HMMMM!!! {don't think I'd go to him} Thereforedating has been extremely afforadle and cheap for the losers I've been out with. They also save on gas, because I meet them at the restaurant. That's for my own safety. And to make mattersworse, they have no gentlemanly manners, but they do have the balls to want sex on a first date. Very shocking and disappointing. P.S. I stand corrected. One man did pay for the date, but then he asked me if I could drive him to the lawyers in the morning so he could file divorce papers. And here the jerk had told me he was divorced 3 years. YEAH!!!!

That's what you get for dating a psychiatrist. I close out psychiatrists and pschologists right away.

I get what Pisces is saying about the psycho she met, but really? Do you close all psychologists and phsyciatrists? Why? I need to know because I just met a match for the first time who is a psychologist and I am on the fence about him so far. He is extremely intelligent academically, but not really savvy in relationships when I listen to his history... let me in on what you know...

Pisces, the one I met yesterday did pay. I don't offer to and no one has ever asked me to. I am in the 55 to 65 range. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't offer if it is the first meeting since neither of us really asked the other out for a "date", but in my old fashioned mind, guys pay... I don't think it's necessarily fair, but it is the way it has always been for me....

I believe the term for guys not willing to pay for a first date, (if you can't afford it...don't date) or expect sex on the first date, is a "loser".

I hate to sound cynical, but I'd suggest being very careful with meeting or dating shrinks. A few of them are awesome, but many of them have gone into the field they are in for self-assessment: their phobias, addictive behavior, insecurities, control or anger issues, etc. I know that sounds really unfair, but I say this with a fair amount of experience to back it up, because quite a few of my patients are psychologists, and many (if not all) have experienced multiple divorces and are generally pretty nutty.

I wouldn't recommended you close those matches out, but choose your questions wisely and review their answers (especially the open-ended ones) carefully. Good luck!

Has the high cost of fuel, food, and everything else affected your dating? If so, what steps are you taking to make dating affordable?
The high cost of fuel, food, and other financial-based things is not the reason why I'm not involved in dating right now. It's the "fix the critical issues" reason that causes me to not want to go out on a date. On the dates that I've been on, there were only afew dates which used fuel (driving to another city for a social event or going to a restaurant or coffeeshop for a first date. I've discovered how wonderful my dates were when my date and I would do an activity which involves very little money. Some examples include walking our dogs together and laughing at their playfulness in the park, looking at Christmas lights and window "browsing", and going to an archeological museum. I dream of cooking a simple but romantic dinner for a woman, but I have to build the relationship up with the right woman first.

Hey.........I have read this great book on dating and relationships and want to share it with all. Ditching Mr. Wrong by Nicholas Aretakis gives a step by step approach on how to choose the right man and dismiss bad prospects, what to expect from first date and how to decipher whether a guy is ready for marriage. He has also written many articles on this subject. Here is a real good one....

One does not alway have to go out to date-if you and the other person are past the first few meetings. Last Friday, my new boyfriend and I went shopping for dinner-cooked dinner athis placeand then we built a fire down by the water and that was very romantic and created an atmosphere to talk about this.

We have also done things like-hiking-canoeing- fishing-and just packing a lunch.

I close them because I don't like being under constant psychological scrutiny.
