Great point. Maybe we should write each other's profiles on here?

Yes, but first we have to have experiences with each other!

seeing how inauthentic his profile is makes me wonder about the truth behind other profiles. I guess I'm interested in whether his behavior is the norm, or unusual.

To me, some of what you are calling "lies" is just differences of perception or measurement:

- The average American is 30 pounds overweight, so on that point he is honest.

- Attributes like "arrogance" are usually matters of personal perception, and peer group and industry norms.

- I like candlelight in restaurants, but only use them at home for emergency lighting (pointless fire risk and soot.)

- I don't necessarily see the marriage intention as a lie - it might be, but I think it's somewhat common for the truth to be that a person would marry only a highly-desirable partner, but doubts they will find one and will not settle.

- If selecting photos which most minimize overweight is lying, then almost all women are lying.

- Liking wine and acceptance of children do sound like clear lies, though perhaps he developed a taste for wine later in life, and I can understand people accepting partners with grown children, or possibly one unusually well-behaved minor, even if they are not interested in the care and upbringing of children.

My experience is that most of the women I've met have multiple dishonesties in the profile, but most of those could be excused for the same type of reasons I just listed above.

Another very common problem in young women's profiles is the "people say" fudginess ("people say I'm cute, people tell me I'm smart ...")

You'd have to actually show up.
