Oh clever.

Other than your words stating your position, you have offered nothing to show that my position is irrational. I offered other situations where there is no clear proof either position is valid, where the majority of society accepts both sides as rational, as proof that the majority of society does accept both the negative (your words) and the positive position as rational. I then make the assertion that your opinion that my position is irrational is based only on the fact that it is about religion and by proxy god.

Now you offer a quote from Melman to show????

I now assert once again that your logic does not hold. Would you care to offer something substantial that shows I am actually closed minded because I am starting to find your comments to me insulting.
Of course you're insulted - you were just shown how "open minded" you really are.

I don't think I would ever date anyone that was anti-gay marriage. It is not logical to have that view and I can see no reasoning on that subject that would make me believe their view. So no I wouldn't date a stupid person.

Anti-Abortion. If the person was also anti-death penalty I would give them a chance. If not then they are stupid and I don't date stupid people.
LOL - yet more "open mindness."

As long as everyone's chiming in...

I count amongst my friends, family and an ex or two, racists, atheists, Republican haters, pro abortionists, gun nuts, anti-gay marriagers, Ayn Randians, Ron Paulers, Obamaphiles, anti-Israel Jews, and plenty of other interesting characters. It's all good times IMO.

Even though I live in tree-huggin' birkenstock wearin', Prius drivin' Orygun, I still post my pinko leftist leanings on my profile.

To do other would waste my time, and his.

Regardless of where one lives, there are people of the opposite persuasion around, and pre screening is what eH is all about. I also don't date smokers. For me, it's a preference. And I am entitled to date those I prefer.

As that card carryin' leftist, I would peacefully defend anyones right to believe what they believe-think their wrong, but defend it. But that does not mean I'm so desperate to date that I'll go out with them.

As has been mentioned, here in the NorthWest, political leanings are simply part of the profile. It's expected that people post their politics, stance on tobacco and pot and desire to procreate.

And what kind of car they drive.

It's a big country and socio-dynamics are different in different places.

It should also be noted I consider myself very close minded (as in, my mind is made up on various socio-political views and is thus not up for debate).

I have never seen any political statements in profiles either. Never. Not one.
Okay, did another search on hot button topics; Palin, gun, Fox News, Republican, Christian, et al., and I get hundreds of hits. Examples:

P. S. If you like Bill O'Reilly, believe Fox News is "fair and balanced," or think Sarah Palin is "rad," don't even bother.

However, my mind is closed when it comes to any Fox "news" show, and if you think Rush is the man, you'd best look elsewhere.

At least in my metro area, such examples are endless.

A liberal's idea of diversity is eating in a Chinese restaurant.

To me, how decent, honest, kind, loving, respectful and generous a person is to people is the most important. I've met so many selfish, dishonest, money grubbing, materialistic, empty, disagreeable, mean-spirited, hypocritical, sanctimonious, I'm superior (sniff, sniff), disrespectful liberals in the Bay Area where I live, I've come to despise them.

Ok, no more generalized attacks on conservatives, liberals, loonytarians (sorry, just had to get that one in), tea partiers, or anyone else.
