I know. It's just that I used to be a libertarian myself (high school through the first half of college), so I try to make excuses for their craziness. Straight-up conservatives, on the other hand, I just don't get. (Although my uncle is one--with Anne Coulter books and Sarah Palin references and everything. )

People who really buy into the work of polemicists like Coulter typically aren't the most rational thinkers. I don't think Coulter is a crackpot, though. I think she just writes what will sell.

I disagree with Sarah Palin on pretty much everything but she's not really the same sort of thing.

I agree. I don't really understand how my uncle thinks... seems like he just buys everything the far right says, hook, line, and sinker. I think I only got into a debate with him once or twice... and after seeing his rhetorical tactics in practice, never again.

Come on guys, fringe liberals aren't much better. Sorry but their belief in Obama saving the economy boarders on religion. Ya know, belief in something that there is no real proof?

Well, the economy is kind of a sticky situation, and was messed up by divisions among the White House staff, legislators who misunderstand economics, and a public sentiment with an attention span too short to grasp a fairly complex issue, thus allowing for distortions and a bad frame for the debate.

And you're right. There are polemicists of all political stripes.

There are crazy/misinformed liberals, certainly. However, I personally never expected Obama (or any president) to fix the economy. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that nobody makes it worse for a while, and hopefully it will recover on its own...
