The whole point of doing these things alone and without a crutch of friends or guys is precisely that - to discover the inner strength in yourself and to realize that you can and it can be fun.

The first time I had to travel alone it was such a scary concept - I thought that I would be miserable and very lonely. It was such an eye opening experience and so opposite of what I expected. I was in fact never alone or lonely and met so many people and had so much fun on that trip that it was amazing. The honest truth is that if I had been traveling with a friend, I would not have had the experiences that I had and would not have met the people that I did. With a friend, we would have done the usual things we do and not stepped outside of that. I realized something very interesting - a friend can actually act like a shield because you will turn towards each other for company and ideas. However when you are alone, you will turn to the world around you for the same and surprise yourself with what you find.
